Welcome to Silver and Shadow

"Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds." -L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

This is a blog I will be using for topics other than food. Politics, religion, spirituality, humor, green living, anything that I want to talk about that doesn't fall under the food/cooking category.

03/31/2021

It was a weird work day from home today. A little busy in the morning, busy in the afternoon, and then snoozeville in between. And sadly, the clam chowder dinner last night turned out to be a bad idea and I was feeling under the weather all day. It didn't impact working from home, so that was good. I'm glad I didn't have to go to the office, though. I did manage to fill and run the dishwasher, and take out the garbage and compost.

After logging out, I read in my room for a while but I kept almost falling asleep since I was so tired. A nice, hot shower didn't help make me any less sleepy, but did feel really good.

Today, the governor announced that all adults will be eligible for vaccination starting April 15th, two weeks earlier than planned. I will have to look into how it all works. I really would like to get the J&J 1 shot, if I can, but you sort of get what you get. I still want to see how it works to do it through the fire department. We live literally behind one. Talk about an easy commute!

Tomorrow is an office day. There are a few transcripts and things for me to work on from today. Hopefully it'll be a well-paced day. There is nothing worse than a slow office day...

03/30/2021

It was a sloooow work day at home today. I had time to do some reading, catch up the dishes in the sink, and did some baking to use up almost all of the leftover candied fruit from Christmas. I tried the first episode of The Witcher. It was meh. Not sure I'll continue with it. I watched Outside the Wire. It was ok. I did a couple episodes of Good Witch. I was thrown off because the Hallmark tv schedule was off by an hour so I had extra time to watch other things once the Golden Girls was over. I did a lot of busy work for work today. It was good to get it done, but a bit uninteresting.

After logging off for the day, I went out for a walk, and dropped off the recycling first. It was a really lovely walk. Still pretty cool out, I needed my jacket the whole time. I heard and saw a woodpecker for the first time in my life, and then its made joined in and it turns out that they poke holes into trees to make nests. I watched one of them stick its head in the hole and I'm pretty sure it was feeding babies. I also tried to direct a crow to eat a beetle that was walking near it, but it ignored me. But the import thing is, I tried.

Dinner tonight was clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Sometimes you have to do fun fancy things for no good reason. It makes the day more enjoyable.

Typical evening tonight. Another work from home day tomorrow.

03/29/2021

It was a full day at the office today. I was busy from start to finish, which is nice. I went out on my first lunch break and walked around for a while. I ended up at the See's on 4th Avenue and bought some of my favorite white chocolates. Not many restaurants open right now, but there are a few and I need to start supporting them more. I think once a week I'll try to buy out. Today count even though it was candy. It's nice to get out of the office, I just had to go for a walk today. It was cold but really nice.

I got a lot of stuff done at work today. I redid our dry erase board with my information I need to make sure I don't forget stuff there. I think it's going to help. There have just been too many changes and I'm doing more than I used to do, for me to keep it all straight. I have to write things down or I'll forget it.

Typical evening tonight. The usual shows, my new ones are on a bit of a hiatus so we're doing dvds and now GBBO and I'll finish out with an episode of JAG before bed. Working from home till Thursday.

03/28/2021

Today was a big food day. I baked my muffin recipe for my food blog project. I made tacos for lunch. I made a new recipe to try for dinner. And I tested out four simple marinades for chicken for my sister to try out on a chicken breast. She's trying to do better with her work meals, so I'm helping her when I can. I also filled and ran the dishwasher and did the by-hand dishes. I also rearranged the pot and pan shelf so I can put away our new electric skillet which is bigger than the old one and wouldn't fit where it used to go.

In non-food chores, I did two loads of laundry and switched out my fall/winter work shirts with my spring/summer work shirts. It's still too cold to switch out my bedding, but probably some time next month. We've had an unusually cold early spring. We're usually well into the 50's this time of year but we've been in the 40's for the most part still.

We finished out the second and final season of Agent Carter today in our MCU watch. Our Disney movie of the week was the Ducktales movie, something neither of us had seen before. We're watching GBBO now and I'll finish the evening out with When Calls the Heart.

A lot of my afternoon was spent on twitter, having a conversation with a complete stranger and some twitter friends, about racism v. prejudice. It was lively but never hostile and it took a long time, but he finally came around to see what we were talking about. It was exhausting, but well worth it. It was great practice for me to get better at this sort of thing.

Tired tonight. Full office day tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight!

03/27/2021

Today was a big grocery shopping day. We got up early and went to Safeway, then headed out to Fred Meyer. We had a bunch of FM coupons that expire soon so we wanted to use them up. We both also needed some household items to look for too. I bought a new electric skillet. They have changed a lot since I moved out of my parents' house way back in the day!

When we were done at the stores, we drove up the street to try out the other nearby teriyaki place, finally. Sadly, it wasn't that good and I don't think we'll go again. We need to keep looking because the one that was closest to us burned down in the fire late last year. It was such good food. It's really important to have a good teriyaki place close to home.

We ate and watched a library movie that was due today. It was cute. Anime. Once we were done, we walked it down and dropped it off at the library before heading back and now we're home for the rest of the weekend. We settled in for SPN reruns on Netflix.

Dinner was pizza rolls that I made to try out a recipe. They were very filling! And delicious, but a lot of work too. I am exhausted! It's funny how before the pandemic, I wouldn't barely be tired from any of this, but now I'm exhausted by it. Hopefully when life gets back to more normal, my energy levels will too.

03/26/2021

Today was a pretty good day working from home. A little busy in the morning, a little busy in the afternoon, and mostly busy work for the rest of the day. I also filled and ran the dishwasher, swept the hardwood floors, and dusted the apartment. Didn't have the opportunity to vacuum but hopefully this weekend I'll be able to do that. I came up with the next two weeks' menu. I watched the White House seder meal video from last night, and did a few episodes of Good Witch.

After logging out, we went out to buy a few things from Walgreens and picked up Heaven Sent fried chicken for dinner. We watched the latest episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and are now trying out the new Might Ducks show until the Hallmark Christmas movie at 9pm.

Sad day in the literary world. We lost Beverly Cleary yesterday and Larry McMurtry today. Two greats...

03/25/2021

It was a long day at the office. A late day. I actually stayed about 20 minutes late to get everything done. It was bonkers, and my coworker covered my job the whole day too. I think once I'm fully vaccinated I'm going to add at least one more day back at the office because it's just not enough time there to get everything done in the two days that I come in. I think I'll be less stressed out and better off if I eventually go to three days a week. I don't like leaving as late as I did because the bus always stops for a layover at Northgate and I hate sitting there that close to home.

Tonight's dinner was breakfast for dinner. I always say, if you have sausages and pancake mix, you can always have a fast dinner. This proved true again. I added some scrambled eggs to the plate, and a couple small plums and a glass of orange juice. Nothing fancy, but tasty!

It is the 25th of the month, so my sister and I watched a Disney Christmas special, because we want to do something Christmasy on the 25th of each month to celebrate being a month closer to the holiday!! After that, we took out the garbage and recycling and picked up a couple packages from the package locker. Two of my necklaces from Etsy arrived and they are so cute! I love them.

Watching GBBO, and then an episode of JAG to end the night. Working from home tomorrow. Sleepy tonight, hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight!

03/24/2021

Today was another slowish day working from home. I ended up doing several transcripts and have 8 I'll have to finish in the office tomorrow. I worked a little more on the little freezer in the kitchen and did the by-hand dishes. I read a little bit and watched Amistad while I worked. It was slow but steady and I had some busy work to keep my occupied. I also worked on catching up my receipts and cleaning the desk behind me, which was out of control.

After logging out, I walked down to the library and dropped off Amistad back with them before walking back home. I just needed a little out of the house/outside exercise, even if it was only a few blocks.

Dinner was leftovers from last night. Delish, except I accidentally set my crescent rolls to reheat for 12 minutes instead of 12 seconds and at least a minute passed before I realized it so they were rock hard and inedible. Boo...

Finishing out season four of The West Wing tonight. Quite an exciting story arc. I hope it's not a cliffhanger!

Back to the office tomorrow. Should be a busy day...

03/23/2021

It was a sloooooow day today. Thankfully I was working from home. I focused on the freezers today, getting all of my stuff out of my sister's freezer, and into mine. I had to look up how the temperature dial worked to get it to the right temperature. Once it was cold enough, I moved everything over. I also rearranged my sister's freezer and created a space for our shared items. I still need to work on the little freezer, but things are finally getting to where I want for the freezers. I also ran the babka for my parents out to my mom when she dropped by in the early afternoon to get it. It was a nice day so it was good to sit out on the stairs for a couple minutes. I also listened to some stuff on youtube while I worked today.

After logging out, I walked down to the library and picked up a movie I had on hold. When I got back, I make the best pork chop dinner of my entire life. I make it like how my mom did growing up, but my electric skillet is rusty for some reason and I need to buy a new one so I had to use a combination of my Dutch oven and a sheet pan. I browned the pork chops in the Dutch oven, then put them in a roasting bag on a sheet pan to finish cooking in the oven. I then did the potatoes and carrots in the Dutch oven on the stove. I had to remove most of the onions I had fried because they burned. I lost most of the flavoring from browning the meat, but it was worth it not to have the whole thing taste burned. I added water and chicken bouillon, and all the seasonings that I use on the pork chops: salt, pepper, and garlic powder, to the potatoes. Once the potatoes were cooked, I added the pork chops back to it, as well as all the liquid from the roasting bag. When it was all cooked, I took it all out and added a can of cream of mushroom soup to the Dutch oven, and made the gravy. Fresh green beans, crescent rolls, and pickles rounded out the meal. I was worried about the texture of the pork chops in the oven, and it turns out that they were the most tender I've ever had! Bone-in is totally the way to go.

I took the time to clean up the kitchen and did a load of by-hand dishes since they are building up out of control. Tomorrow will be leftovers.

Our usual shows tonight. Hopefully a good night's sleep tonight too!

03/22/2021

Today was a full day at the office. It wasn't as busy as I anticipated it to be, but I stayed busy the entire day anyway. On my first lunch break, I walked down the Tower Deli to see if they were still open and was so happy to see that they are. I got my usual potstickers and will definitely go more often to support them. Not many places are open, and pretty much nothing in my building is open, so it makes for boring tv dinners for lunch mostly. There's a taco place I mean to try soon too. Places where I can get the food quickly to go will be important. But I also want to support these places too.

I was able to wrap things up and leave just about at 5, which was nice! The weather was back and forth today, but my lunch walk, and the walk to the bus on the way home were both really nice sunny weather. Our weather has been so back and forth lately. I had to put my socks on last night to warm up in bed.

Yesterday's taco lunch became tonight's taco salad dinner. Our usual shows tonight. Working from home the next two days, which will be nice because my right knee is feeling iffy after today's walk. I haven't walked downtown like that in a long time, and I probably did too long, too fast...Hopefully I'll sleep it off!

03/21/2021

Today was a mixed bag. My parents came by and dropped of a couple things they've been holding for us that we decided we had room for in the apartment, so my plan to start my baking around ten got pushed off by about an hour. I did some reading and made breakfast before they arrived. I worked on the bread off and on all afternoon, made a late taco lunch, did two loads of laundry, and filled and ran the dish washer. But I also watched some SPN, Agent Carter, and got our Disney movie of the week, The Little Mermaid, watched and relaxed too.

One of the items my parents brought back was my little freezer which I've had since I moved out of their house but had no room for in the downstairs unit. It's been tough sharing a freezer, so it'll be nice to have more space again.

My baking turned out great, which is really nice after two weeks of fails. I'm currently stuffing my face with a piece of babka now. It's so friggin good...!

I will be watching the new episode of When Calls the Heart tonight before going to bed. Long office day tomorrow. Should be pretty busy, fast-paced, so that'll be nice. All in all, a nice weekend. Nothing super exciting, but enjoyable!

03/20/2021

Today was the "get all the errands done" day. Started off with a trip to my parents' house so we could get our Canadian citizenship paperwork squared away and paid for. Then Safeway for groceries and MOD Pizza for lunch. We ate at home and did an episode of The West Wing. After that, we did our Saturday walk to the library. Then we settled in for an afternoon of Supernatural. We made a last minute change of plans to go out and do our trip to the Asian market on Aurora we were gonna do tomorrow, tonight, and picked up Subway on the way back home. Now we're watching Agent Carter for the night.

I wrote out tomorrow's bread recipe. I'm hoping for a success after two fails! I also ordered two more necklaces from the woman I bought one from at the Pike Place Market a couple weeks ago. She has an Etsy shop, so I got a couple more. I love them!

Very tired today, so I'm hoping for a good night's sleep tonight!

03/19/2021

It was a busy morning working from home today, but it dropped off real fast by the early afternoon. I was able to get all the busy work caught up. I didn't do a whole lot of stuff. I did make some homemade tartar sauce to go with our dinner. And I read a bit. I finished the second half of the second Anne of Green Gables movie I started the other day. It was pretty windy today, but the lights never flickered. I even had time to email chat with my coworker about our weekend plans, something I remember was a big part of our Fridays in the office. The ritual of telling everybody what we planned to do over the weekend. It was fun to do that again, even in email form.

Dinner tonight was oven fries and frozen fish fillets. The first time I did oven fries here, they were too big and didn't crisp up. This time they were a little overdone. I think the next time I'll get it right! They're not hard to make and so delish when done right. The fish wasn't bad either. The tartar sauce turned out great. It's also really easy to make from scratch.

Did an episode of West Wing, and then started Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So good, so far! Waiting for the Hallmark Christmas movie now. Will be making Jiffy Pop...Not an exciting day, but a nice one!

03/18/2021

Long day on my feet today. I was going from start to end today. We're definitely getting busy at work and I am starting to wonder if we won't have to replace our other coworker who left last year. We've been able to manage, but it's a lot now. I think once we're all vaccinated, we will probably discuss how we handle things going forward. I was able to get all but my second 15 minute break today. I did some editing on my lunch breaks. Work was just all over the place today, but I discovered something I'm going to keep doing. I tried out the cart we have when I took out the mail and it really helped with the strain on my body taking out mail usually is. It was so much easier this way. Glad I tried it.

After getting off the bus back home, I walked to Bartells and bought some red ink pens for editing my book. I also bought two boxes of Aplets and Cotlets because they're going out of business and those might be the last ones I ever get. I am devastated to hear that they're closing. It's a huge part of our state! I keep hoping they'll find a way to save it.

Breakfast for dinner tonight. Filled and ran the dishwasher while cooking. Our regular shows tonight before bed. Working from home tomorrow. Hopefully I'll sleep thoroughly tonight!

03/17/2021

It was a suuuper slow work day today. I had a bit of stuff to do in the morning, but then it slowed way down and stuff trickled in a little bit throughout the day, but not much. I was able to finish a book I've been reading, washed the by-hand dishes, and watched the first half of the second Anne of Green Gables movie that I've had out for a long time but just haven't watched yet.

After logging out, I quickly finished my book and then went out for a walk since it was really nice out and I wanted some exercise. I took it slow, but I made it to the little library up the road and dropped off my books for people to enjoy. I could have gone further, but I tend to do too much too soon, so I resisted temptation and came back after that. It was really nice out. I need to do that more often on good weather days like this, especially before it gets too hot to walk outside anymore.

Dinner was leftovers. Pretty tasty, actually. I also typed up and saved all the editing changes to my first chapter, so tomorrow I'll move on to chapter two in the office on my lunch breaks. Our usual shows tonight. Office day tomorrow shouldn't be too bad. I have six new transcripts to work on and another one I have to swap out some paperwork on before I mail it out. And then whatever comes in tomorrow. It should be a well-paced day, I hope!

03/16/2021

Today was a busy morning working from home, but it tapered off and was basically done by noon. I had busy work to do, but I was able to get the dishwasher filled and ran it. I prepped some stuff for dinner, and swept the floor. My mom stopped by for a minute after her work to pick up the pie and dropped off a few things. I did take a nice break today, and watched a few episodes of Good Witch. I sat on the porch for a bit and finished editing my first chapter. Lots of little things.

I was really tired today because of how badly I slept on Sunday, but thankfully I slept well last night. Hopefully tonight will be another good night's sleep, and will be back on track.

Somebody on twitter gave me a good idea that as today is the one day anniversary of getting the keys to my apartment downstairs, and beginning the journey of moving over here on the eve of lockdown, and surviving the year, that I should get a reward. So, I explored Etsy and found a few wood and cloth-covered bracelets, and bought some. They should be fun and pretty. I miss having bracelets to wear, so I'm pretty excited!

Dinner tonight was chicken enchiladas, made with the rest of our roast chicken, and a packet of McCormick's enchilada mix, which I have never tried before. It's a bit of a messy process, but it turned out pretty good. I know it's probably awful to use a mix, but I have never come across an enchilada sauce I liked. This was almost more like taco seasoning, so I liked it. Leftover tomorrow.

Our usual shows tonight. Hopefully a reasonable time to bed. Fingers crossed.

03/15/2021

Today was the first true full day(planned) since I started back last June and I think it worked out really well. I took all my breaks and don't feel absolutely exhausted like I normally do. I read on my breaks, at all my food, and worked on editing my book on my longer lunch breaks, which I split into two half hours instead of one hour. It really spread out the resting through the day. I think this is going to be a good thing, even if I get home later in the evening now. It's actually less time to get home that time of day than it is leaving an hour earlier.

Unfortunately, my body decided to wake up at 3:30 this morning and not to back to sleep, so I'm pretty tired tonight. I hate that this happens, but it's pretty consistent. I don't really know how to stop it. I just put up with it.

I did take the time when I got home, to clean out the sink before showering. It was worth it, but sadly, the sink is full again! I'll work on it tomorrow...Working from home for the next two days, so hopefully I can keep up with the chores better. I'm thinking of changing out my bedding from my fall/winter to my spring/summer bedding because it's starting to get warmer in the early mornings. Maybe that's contributing to the sleep issue. Trying a new recipe for dinner tomorrow. Hopefully it'll work out!

03/14/2021

Spring forward day is never fun. It doesn't seem to matter if I actually get enough sleep, I'm still a zombie on this day. We went to Safeway this morning for the last of our grocery shopping. I did a load of laundry and did my Pi Day and bread project baking. We watched Captain America and got about halfway through season one of Agent Carter. I also made a roast chicken dinner, and now we're settled in watching Oliver & Company for our Disney movie of the week. I'll finish the evening with the new episode of When Calls the Heart tonight at 9pm.

Tomorrow is a full day at the office, till 5pm. I'll be trying out full breaks and lunch again, the first in basically a year. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight and won't be too exhausted. I try to be in peak form for office days.

Saturday, March 13, 2021

03/13/2021

Today started off with a French toast and sausage breakfast. We used up the rest of some drying out bread that was only good for toast, so it was perfect. We settled in to finish out the season of the new Punky Brewster and it's just so perfect. Punky Brewster was a big part of my childhood, a really important part of it, so it's been such a joy to see what she's been up to since the show originally ended. I really hope we get a second season!

After the show ended, we went for a short walk down to the library where we picked up some books and movies. This time I picked up stuff that was on-hand, not things I had on hold. They post pictures of books they have available for immediate check out and there's been one by Chef Marcus Samuelsson that I have looked at whenever I pass by and I finally decided to check it out. We then stopped by Panda Express where I picked up some lunch before we walked home again. It was a good, short outing and we went slowly enough that I didn't have any breathing problems during or after.

Once we were home for good for the day, we did the binge-watch of WandaVision. It's so good! During that, I picked out my spring and summer cooking project recipes. I figure with the Christmas and bread project going so well, I might as well keep it going through the year.

Dinner was leftovers from Azteca. When WandaVision was over, we switched over to Supernatural for the night. We discussed doing an MCU rewatch, and this time I was ok doing a chronological watch, so I found a list online that has all the movies and all the shows in chronological order. Tomorrow we'll watch Captain America, and maybe even start in with some Agent Carter. Next Friday we'll be starting Falcon and the Winter Soldier as it airs, so it'll be nice to watch something with Bucky in it at least, before then.

Lots of cooking and baking tomorrow. And a trip up the hill to the grocery store. I need ingredients before I can make anything, so hopefully we'll go earlier in the morning, rather than later. And hopefully a good night's sleep tonight, if possible. We spring forward, which is no fun...!

Friday, March 12, 2021

03/12/2021

Today was a well-paced day working from home. Busy morning and off and on things coming in the the afternoon, and a lot of busy work to keep myself occupied. My lungs weren't happy with me last night or this morning so I woke up early and had problems getting back to sleep, so I was pretty tired today. I have learned how to crack my upper back with a tennis ball and leaning against the wall and that seems to pop the upper ribs back into place and help my lungs feel better. It's pretty much back to normal though, but there's a bit of a cycle and a process to resolving the issue. I'm getting better at it, though.

I discussed with with my boss and coworker and it's agreed that I'll go to full 8-5 on my office days, but with my two fifteen minute breaks and an hour lunch. It might be broken into two half hours or I might combine them with the breaks into two 45 minutes breaks, I'll play with that and see what works best for me. This will allow me to rest through the day, which I need. It'll encourage me to eat properly. And it'll give me a chance to edit or read. For work, it'll give them coverage on the phones and the transcript desk till the end of the day so nobody has to cover for me after I leave.

After logging out, we ran out to Joann Fabrics to get a few more tree decorations, and found some really great stuff. The tree is just awesome now! We stopped by Central Market for a few things I only get from there. This Sunday is Pi Day, so I have to make a pie, in addition to the bread I'll be making, and the roast chicken dinner. Big food day! I picked a fall throwback for the pie to go with the chicken dinner, so it should be fun.

Dinner was Azteca, always delicious! The other half of it will be tomorrow's dinner. We tried to watch some of the new Punky Brewster tonight, but Peacock network wasn't cooperating so we couldn't finish the episode. Maybe tomorrow. WandaVision ended last week so we're doing an episode of GBBO before the Friday night Hallmark Christmas movie.

Hopefully I'll sleep better than I did last night.

3/11/2021

Today was a weird day at the office. It wasn't very busy, but what there was to do, kept me busy the whole day. I only did a few things, but they took forever! We finally got our water bottle empties picked up and new ones dropped off. We've had empty bottles all over the kitchen floor for pretty much a year now because we had a huge water delivery just before we went into lockdown and it's taken us all this time to use them up. There is so much more space in the kitchen now!!

I'm thinking of going back to a true full day on office days, if I can get my coworkers to take the phones back during my lunch break so I can leave the office if I want to, and actually have a break. I've just come to see that I can't go full days without breaks just to get to leave a little earlier. My body isn't as recovered from covid as I thought. Taking proper breaks will help my body rest more on office days. It'll also give me time again to work on editing/writing. Set periods of time are what I need to do that in the most timely manner. I think this will be good for me, ultimately.

Chicken burger for dinner tonight. SPN on Netflix, will be followed up with GBBO and JAG. Working from home tomorrow.

03/10/2021

Today was a very slow work day. Like suuuuuper slow. Slowest day since January, really. I spent most of the day decorating the apartment for spring and the tree is now a spring tree and I'm super proud of it! I also read a bit too, and watched an episode of Finding Your Roots, and some episodes of The Good Witch on Netflix. I actually sat out on the porch for a break and read in the sun for a while, till the sun shifted and it was freezing in the shade, so I came back inside. It's fun to see winter beginning to segue into spring. I'm not usually a spring person, I usually don't like it because of allergies, but I think the pandemic is making me see it differently this year. It's a change, and that's important right now!

My sister came home today too. After logging out, we ran to Fred Meyer to get some more spring decorations and the place looks so cute now! My stomach isn't happy with me today, so I bought some chicken strips from the deli to eat with my soup for dinner and called it all good.

Instead of The West Wing, to keep with the feeling of my sister being on vacation, we're watching Supernatural, our weekend show, but we'll be starting over with GBBO tonight too. I'll probably still watch an episode of JAG before bed.

Tired, cuz I'm tweaking my schedule to try and adjust to the time change Saturday night when we "spring forward." I read that it's easier on your body to slowly adjust over the week than all at once. Office day tomorrow so I'll be getting up earlier anyway. Hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight. I found a new position for my pillow that seems to be helping my neck so far. A lot less pain. I'll keep trying it out and hopefully it'll just be the new way I position my pillow.

03/09/2021

Today was a much slower day than yesterday. I had my breakfast casserole today and it was delish, as usual and kept me filled and running all morning long. Mission accomplished! I was able to do some reading, took down all the winter decorations and put them away, and got the dishes caught up. I also watched the Meghan Markle-Prince Harry interview from the other day. It was incredible. I definitely wish all the best for their future.

I didn't walk on the treadmill today because my body has been feeling run down since walking up the stairs and hill to get to the bus stop on Saturday. And yesterday was a long, full day at work, and one of my breaks I went out for a walk, so my lungs have been strained a lot and I decided a couple days of resting them would be for the best. So, today and tomorrow I will not be doing the treadmill.

Dinner tonight was roast potatoes, roast asparagus, from the Pike Place Market, and roast salmon. All of it with Greek seasoning. Very tasty! I watched a couple episodes of Finding Your Roots and will be switching to JAG shortly. My sister comes home tomorrow so tv will be more back to normal tomorrow.

03/08/2021

It was a very long, very busy day at the office today. I ended up needing to stay the full day, till 5, so I split my lunch hour in half and took two half hour breaks. It wasn't so bad, in the end. I made it to the bus just as the bus came so I had no wait, which was great! I worked the production side of the job the entire day. I'm pretty exhausted!

When I got home, I baked my breakfast casserole for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to having it for breakfast. I'll freeze portions and try to have it once a week or so. It'll help make breakfast more interesting.

I had a lot of things I wanted to do when I got home from work but I lost that hour and am tired so I'm pretty much just relaxing. I work from home the next two days. Hopefully I can get some stuff done then.

I'm still having problems with my neck when I sleep. I'm going to try a different pillow combo tonight and see if I notice any difference. I've had this problem for years, but I just want it to stop!

03/07/2021

Today was a really nice day. I did a little bit of everything. I read a lot in my room. I did laundry. Took out garbage and recycling. Did my blog recipe, which failed, sadly. I edited my story a bit. I prepped the breakfast casserole that I will be baking tomorrow night after work. I made a fantastic chicken stew for dinner and I cannot wait to eat the leftovers tomorrow! I did all the by-hand dishes. I swept the kitchen and bathroom floors, and I cleaned my toilet. It sounds like a lot, and it was, but it was also a really relaxing day. I kept the tv off, for the most part, and I read off and on a lot today. It was great.

The weather was quite a lot to watch today! Several hailstorms. Thunder. Torrential rain. Wind. And sun! It was bonkers! When I was reading in my room, the hail and rain kept hitting against the window right behind me. It was very loud. It's supposed to be less dramatic during the week. I had considered switching out the winter decorations for the spring ones, but decided not to because I just couldn't envision spring flowers in this weather. Maybe tomorrow when I get home from work.

Watching a movie on Netflix now that dinner is done. I will be watching When Calls the Heart at 9 tonight, before heading to bed.

Today was a big day for me! My sister and I ran out to get McDonald's breakfast to start the day, and then she packed the car with all the stuff for her vacation, and we drove down to the Pike Place Market to spend the morning. I bought a bunch of stuff, including a necklace without any metal in it so I don't have to worry about having an allergic reaction to it. It wasn't too bad crowd-wise till we got ready to leave, around noon. It was getting busier, so I was glad to get away from all the people. My sister dropped me off at Union, and I had to walk to University, just one block down, to find a better way up the street. I did not know that the block between Western and 1st Avenue is a block of stairs, which with my knees and lungs, is a miracle I survived. The walk from 1st to 3rd Avenue was two blocks of extremely steep hills, so again, it was a miracle I made it in one piece to the bus stop. Luckily I only had to wait a few minutes till the bus arrived.

When I got home, I showered and watched an episode of JAG before finally settling in to work on editing my book that I have been putting off for a long time. I had some issues to deal with that my friend helped me with by explaining that editing is done in steps, and the issue I had was something to deal with way down the line, and to focus on the other stuff instead. Once I knew how it works, I could jump right into it. After that, I finally tried out The Crown on Netflix. I watched the first three episodes. I don't know. It's ok so far. I like Victoria better, I think.

I had Pike Place Market food for lunch and dinner today. I'm now getting ready for the new Hallmark movie at 9 tonight. Forgot to mention I had time to read a bit this morning and finished The Turn of the Screw, which is an old ghost story. It's ok, not much actual story to it. And I started a new one from my pile of books behind my bedroom door. The jury's still out on that one, but I want to give it a few chapters before deciding to keep reading or stop.

Super tired today. Lots of food stuff to do tomorrow, so I hope I sleep really well tonight!

03/05/2021

Today was a busy day working from home. My coworker, who was in the office, and I were hopping for most of the first half of the day! It has been busy all week. These are good problems, though!! I was feeling a lot better today, because last night before bed, I cracked my upper back and got three good cracks and it alleviated the pain. So, what is happening, and it's not the first time, is I'm popping my ribs out of whack, and they're pushing against my lungs and causing the pain. Then I crack them back into place, and the pain goes away. The pain is very different from anything I've felt, and it's definitely not like my asthma. I need to remember this in the future and start working on stretching my back immediately when I have this happen again.

I didn't do too much housework today, except to get the sink under control. I plan on switching out the decorations while my sister is gone, and will clean as I go. I did walk on the treadmill, though. Mr. Freeze looked like Darth Vader after his mask came off a the end of ROTJ...

After logging out for the weekend, we did our grocery shopping, picked up and dropped off stuff with our parents, and got Kidd Valley to take home for dinner. We finished out WandaVision, I can't believe it's been 8 weeks!! Now we're watching the Hallmark Christmas movie of the week. Fun times!

Big day tomorrow, hopefully I will sleep well today!

03/04/2021

It was such a busy day today at the office! It took me till about 11:30 to get the in-box emptied out and then my coworker took over so I could move to the back and catch up with everything from yesterday and today. It took the rest of the day pretty much. I didn't get lunch till nearly 3pm which did not work out well for my acid reflux, even with my daily omeprazole. I ate too fast, ended up with extremely painful hiccups and it did something to my asthma lungs and now they are not happy with me.

My sister is going on vacation on Saturday and coming home Wednesday so we are changing up our tv schedule for tonight. We are finishing out GBBO and watching our usual Sunday night Disney movie tonight, so we watched The Great Mouse Detective. I'll still probably watch an episode of JAG before bed.

My feet are so sore and with angry lungs, I just threw a frozen pot pie in the oven for dinner and called it good. Hopefully a good night's sleep will help a lot. Working from home where I will have my humidifier and a better ability to stay hydrated since I won't be working with a mask on all day, will probably help too. Being on my feet all day today also didn't help. I really am a hothouse flower like my mom called me one time...!!

03/03/2021

Today was a mixed bag for work. Bit of a flurry in the morning and another one in the afternoon, but totally slow in between. I finished my library book. I got the kitchen under control: swept the floor, did all the by-hand dishes, and filled and ran the dishwasher. I got warm enough today that I had to open the windows. It was so beautiful out today!

I ate a late breakfast this morning. Cold cereal and my tea. I need to eat a bit earlier, but I'm glad I didn't wait till lunch today. I'm adding items to my shopping list to make a breakfast casserole this weekend that I can freeze portions of for breakfasts.

After logging out of work, I walked down to the library to drop off my book and a couple things for my sister that she was done with. It was still really nice out. After my shower, I sat in my room and read for a bit.

Leftovers for dinner, with a portion set aside for tomorrow's lunch at the office. The usual shows tonight.

03/02/2021

It was a busy day working from home, but I was still able to get a couple things done. I got dinner prepped. I read a few pages of my book. I watched my On Demand shows. But there was also a lot of back and forth with me, my coworker, and one of the court reporters about some exhibits because she thought she'd sent them to us but they were too big and bounced back to her junk mail and she didn't see it till we asked what the heck was going on. It took all three of us emailing to get it sorted out!

I've been skipping breakfast on home days, and I need to stop that, but I can't seem to settle on a breakfast I like. Overnight oats is so dreary that I can only stand it on office days when I have no choice. But I need something easy and fast to make on home days. I have cold cereal, which I suppose I can do, but that gets boring too. Maybe what I need is a variety of things I could have. Cold cereal one day, hot cereal another day, then maybe something fancier. I do love a good breakfast casserole, and that does freeze nicely. I could make one and freeze portions to thaw the night before...That just might do it! Now to add those ingredients to my shopping list and make one over the weekend...!

Dinner tonight was a new recipe. It was pretty good, but I don't know if I'd make it again or not. Curried Spaghetti with chicken. Pretty good flavor, but the sauce is a little thick. I'll know better tomorrow with the leftovers, since everything always tastes better the next day.

So, it turns out that my sister has seasons 4 and 5 of The West Wing, but forgot, so we're starting season 4 tonight, but will also do an episode of GBBO and JAG before bed. I'm making really good progress on Rich People Problems, and if I try hard, I might even finish it tomorrow and be able to return it to the library. I already had to extend the hold on it once, so I want to finish it soon!

03/01/2021

Well, a new month, a new week! It was a really busy first half of the day at the office. My coworker ran the transcript desk and I did production. We were on fire till about 12:30pm till we got all caught up. I took over the transcript desk as well as production till I left at 4pm. It slowed down significantly, but there was plenty of busywork to do till the end of the day. I managed to get out of there not too late, which was nice. I was able to read my book at the bus stop before the bus arrived.

Once I got home, I gathered and took out all the compost, garbage, and recycling. I finally used our new rice cooker last night, which worked wonderfully, so I was able to recycle the box for it. That was nice to be able to get rid of that.

Dinner was leftovers. We finished out season three of The West Wing and found out the hard way that Peacock network only has them for purchasing, so we had to switch to Supernatural and we'll have to work on getting the rest of WW through the library. Watching GBBO and even though Black Lightning is new tonight I won't be done by 9, so I'll have to watch that On Demand tomorrow and will probably watch JAG before bed.
