Welcome to Silver and Shadow

"Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds." -L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

This is a blog I will be using for topics other than food. Politics, religion, spirituality, humor, green living, anything that I want to talk about that doesn't fall under the food/cooking category.

02/28/2021

Today felt like a really lazy day, but I actually got a lot done. I read in the morning, made my baking blog recipe of the week, did three loads of laundry which are all folded and put away, prepped my work food for tomorrow, prepped and made dinner, and dusted and vacuumed the entire apartment.

We also ran out and grabbed lunch, came back, watched two more episodes of the new Punky Brewster, then finished out Cobra Kai, and started our Supernatural rewatch. Our Disney movie of the week is The Black Cauldron, and I'll finish the night with the new episode of When Calls the Heart.

It hasn't been a very exciting weekend, but then when has it been since the pandemic started?! It was a nice and relaxing weekend, which was nice!

02/27/2021

Today was a lot of tv. I started off reading before making a huge late breakfast. We tried the first two episodes of the new Punky Brewster, which is totally cute. Then we walked to the library so my sister could pick up and drop off some stuff. Then we stopped at Bartell Drugs where I miraculously did not buy anything! When we came back, we settled in for Cobra Kai and have finished season two and started season three.

The CPAC is a GOP convention happening right now, and there's one too many signs that they would entrench our nation in white nationalism fully and openly, if they ever return to power. I don't know how we can work with them on anything or what we will do if they ever take the White House or Congress again. I commented on FB that I should work on getting my Canadian citizenship squared away asap in case this all blows up out of control. Up to now, any time I made a comment like that, my dad would say it's not as bad as it seems, it'll blow over, etc. This morning he told me he thinks my sister and I should do that asap, just in case. That scared me and filled me with a profound sadness. Maybe things are as bad as they seem, but it would feel better to know I can get out if I have to one day...

Leftover pizza for dinner. Chores and more tv tomorrow.

02/26/2021

It was a busy morning working from home today, and then it slowed way down around 11:30 pretty much for the rest of the day, but I still found stuff to stay busy with for the most part. I did some straightening up around the apartment and hopefully I'll get it fully cleaned over the weekend. My coworker and I got a head start on some stuff that came in that isn't due till Monday, but it'll make Monday that much less scurried.

After logging off, my sister and I went out to get most of our errands done. We dropped some stuff off with our parents, did our grocery shopping, picked up pizza for dinner, and stopped at a drug store to get a few spring decorations. We are going to try adding some walks into the weekend, but won't really need to go anywhere this weekend, which is nice.

Dinner was late, and we watched the latest WandaVision episode, and are now settled in with the Hallmark Friday night Christmas movie. I am wearing my Hallmark Christmas movie shirt, because it's the uniform. It's raining and hailing and there's some thunder tonight. Haven't seen the lightning though. Must be behind us.

Hopefully a nice long night's sleep is ahead of me tonight!

02/25/2021

It was another full and busy day at the office. I do like busy office days, they're much better than slow office days. There were issues with some of our exhibits that took a long time to sort out. There were phone calls I had to let people know about because I couldn't help them. Lots of stuff going on. It definitely made the day go faster.

I read for a bit tonight after my shower, before getting dinner ready. Dinner was breakfasty-type stuff from the freezer. Not exciting, but it got the job done. We're getting Papa Murphy's for dinner tomorrow, so that'll make up for a blah dinner tonight.

The usual shows tonight. Working from home tomorrow. Nothing too exciting today, but pleasant enough.

02/25/2021

Today was way slower for work. It was like night and day difference from yesterday. As usual, it was a lot of exhibits. I don't know why Wednesdays are exhibit day, but they are. I had enough time to run back and forth and make my first attempt at hamantaschen cookies, which failed miserably, but tasted good. I need to keep working on them. Once I find a dough that works, I'll work on fillings. For now I just used jams that I had on hand. The apricot is the best, imo.

It was a non-descript work day today. After logging out, I took out garbage and recycling and picked up the cookie cutters I ordered that came in the mail. I need a 3.5" cookie cutter for almost everything I bake and I don't have one, so I finally decided to order one since the grocery store didn't have any.

Dinner was leftovers and it was delicious. I reheated it in a foil packet in the oven because neither chicken breasts nor potatoes reheat well in the microwave, and it was worth the extra time and effort to heat it that way. I highly recommend this method of reheating foods that don't do well in the microwave.

Our usual shows tonight. Tomorrow is an office day. We'll see how busy it is!

02/23/2021

Today was a pretty busy day working from home, though I did have time to read a bit and walk on the treadmill on a break. I got caught up on my On-Demand shows while I worked and managed to get completely caught up with the busy work that has now been decided needs to be done daily instead of weekly. I guess it's fine because it'll mean it's less each day than doing it once a week. There was a lot of back and forth emailing between me and my coworker, but we got everything sorted out in the end.

I made a new recipe for dinner tonight, from my old Cooking Light magazines. It was really good and my sister loved it too. We decided that it's good enough to add to a regular rotation of menu items, though I will probably make it a Sunday meal so I can make it with a little less time constraints. It was really tasty and I get to have the leftovers tomorrow night!

The usual tv tonight. Good times...!

02/22/2021

Today was a Monday! My coworker had an emergency and my boss and a doctor's appointment and for a while, they couldn't get hold of my other coworker to take over the front desk so I was handling the phones and the very full and continually refilling in-box...! But around 10ish my worker was back and took over the transcripts desk so I could work in the back on production. It was chaotic, but it got all done in the end. I am very tired now!!

I read for about a half hour after I got home tonight and showered. I'm still loving Rich People Problems, though I'm not surprised. I love the other two books too. Dinner was taco salad and cheesecake. We did two episodes of The West Wing and are about to settle in for The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola, which both announced last week they were renewed for next season! I will also watch Black Lighting tonight before bed. Work from home the next two days.

02/21/2021

Today started with me getting up to finish watching season seven of When Calls the Heart. By the time I was finished, my sister was up, and we went right into Sliders, which we also ended up finishing. I made my bread for the week, did a load of laundry, and also took out the garbage and recycling throughout the day too. I also did the by-hand dishes, and filled and ran the dishwasher.

My bread turned out really good! The tacos I made for dinner were really good too! We started season two of Cobra Kai while we ate, then switched over to our Disney movie of the week: The Fox and the Hound. I will be finishing the evening with the season 8 premiere of When Calls the Heart, assuming we still have power in all this wind! No flickering lights today, but a lot of sinus pressure in my head. No fun!

02/20/2021

Today was a mostly lazy day of watching When Calls the Heart and Sliders, and eating doughnuts. It was also the day we left to restock our shelves with a giant grocery shopping trip! We also went to Top Pot, hence the doughnuts. We got a lot of stuff from the store, but the vast majority of it was stuff from our shopping lists. Only a few impulse buys. We're trying to do better with that. I now have bread for sandwiches!!

We have spent the rest of the day sitting around watching Sliders. I did one half of a disk of When Calls the Heart this morning before we left to go shopping, and one half this evening, so I have one set of two episodes left to watch tomorrow morning and I'll actually finish the season and be able to watch the premiere tomorrow without being spoiled! I really didn't think this would work out and was resolved to just be spoiled, but it worked out in the end!!

Tomorrow will be more lounging around, but I'll do some chores too, as well as my blog recipe. Super tired today. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight!

Anti-Racism Resources

It's easy to get bogged down in the "I'm just one person, I'm not rich or famous, what can I do to help dismantle white supremacy? I'm not a politician for goodness sake!" mentality when you, as a white person, face the overwhelming task of dismantling white supremacy. I get it. I feel like that all the time, too. But this is definitely a case of "little things add up to big things." Everybody can do something. If everybody does that something, then something gets done.

Here is a very short list, compiled from a google search entitled: "How to work towards dismantling white supremacy." A lot of links within the links to research. You could spend hours researching this and gleaning ideas to try. Good luck!

This is from a church site, but it has lot of info.

02/19/2021

Am I glad this week is over! I was busy all day except for the small break I took in the morning to get my chicken marinating in the fridge, and to run down to the library to pick up the 7th season of When Calls the Heart and stop by Panda Express to get some lunch. I was barely able to get my weekly "busy work" done. It's not really busy work, it's vital, but it's tedious.

I managed to get 6 episodes of of the show watched as I worked. I might manage to get through most of it by the time season 8 premieres Sunday night. I'm excited to be able to watch the show live, finally!

Tonight's WandaVision was amazing, as usual! My dinner was pretty tasty. I marinated chicken in a bunch of seasonings and made some rice pilaf from scratch to go with it. We're watching The West Wing till 9 when we'll tune in for the Hallmark Christmas movie of the week.

Tomorrow is grocery shopping day. Working on my shopping list now. I need a lot of stuff this week!

2/18/2021

It was a super busy day at the office. At least I didn't have to worry about finding stuff to keep me busy! I ended up having to leave a few things undone. The phones weren't as bad as last week, but I did take a couple calls. I tried to help my coworker with her computer, but I think it's dead. Nothing worked. She goes into the office tomorrow so we'll see if she can get it to work.

Leftovers for dinner tonight. Our usual shows. Not a big day, but a fast day! Working from home tomorrow.

02/17/2021

Today was a pretty good day working from home. I cleaned a little bit in my bathroom, and I did my walking on the treadmill, but mostly I was at my desk. I had Baahubali 2 from the library to watch, so I had that on as I worked. I also did the last of my Good Witch movies, so now I might try to do a rewatch of the show. I also found out that the last season of When Calls the Heart is finally en route to the library, which means if I'm lucky, I'll only be one episode into the new season before getting to catch up with the previous season.

Both my coworker and I had computer troubles today, but mine sorted itself and hers did not. When I go into the office tomorrow, I'm probably going to have to restart her computer for her. There will be a few things for me to work on, but I always seem to find something to keep busy.

Tonight we threw out all our dinner plans and ordered Domino's and it was fantastic! Now my dinners will be pushed off by a day, but it will work out better in the long run, so it's all good. And we got a coupon for half off pizza if we order next week so we might just have to order more in a week...!

Did a few episodes of The West Wing, and started last year's final season, so far, of GBBO. It's cool to see what they were able to keep going with the show in the pandemic. We'd assumed they'd have to shut down production, but everybody sacrificed and lived together away from their families so they could do the show. Probably will do an episode of JAG before bed.

02/16/2021

Today was a very long day at the office. Like, stayed till 5pm long. There was a freak snafu with a visa payment that had to be resolved, and we were also short staffed and my coworker needed me to stick around longer. I took a break and read for a while, so that made up for some of the time. I am tired!! My feet are sore. I wore my rain boots to and from work and was on my feet for most of the day, though I changed into my regular shoes, so that helped.

I was late getting home, and haven't gotten as caught up with stuff as I would like. I did get the sink under control, and made my dinner. I'm continuing to make progress on clearing out the freezers. We'll be doing grocery shopping this weekend and I hope to find that balance of getting food, but not too much food, to hopefully go back to every other weekend grocery shopping.

We started season three of The West Wing tonight and are finishing out a season of GBBO too. Tired. At least I work from home tomorrow.

02/15/2021

Well, today was a half work day half day off day. There was a 20-part set of transcripts I had to prep and upload to the Court of Appeals website today and it took over four hours to get it all done. I also took the time to finish up one item overdue from Friday that I had gotten an answer to. I was exhausted and drained when I logged off around 12:30pm for the rest of the day.

In keeping with clearing out the fridge and freezer, I used up the rest of the turkey and chicken from the stock I made the other day, for our lunch. I thickened the stock, seasoned it, and added the turkey and chicken and heated it through while cooking egg noodles. It made lunch for both of us today and enough for a lunch for me to take to work tomorrow when I go to the office for the day.

We watched a bunch more Sliders today and finished season four. We started season five and did two episodes before switching over to GBBO. I'll end the night with an episode of JAG.

I did a couple chores today. I took out the garbage. Filled and ran the dishwasher. Broke down the drying racks in the den and put the dry laundry away. I have several clothing items, including all my masks, that I air dry to try to keep them from shrinking because the dryer doesn't seem to have a medium setting and the no-heat setting is useless. I even read for a bit in my room too.

All-in-all, it was a nice three day, or 2.5 day weekend! We got snow, I cooked, I baked, I read, I lounged and we watched fun shows and movies, and I kept up some of the cleaning, at least! Office day tomorrow. Hoping the bus has no issues with the leftover snow...

Sunday, February 14, 2021

02/14/2021

Well, we got several more hours of snow this morning and afternoon, but it has stopped and is beginning to warm up. It's beginning to rain now, as well. We went out for one last walk in the snow this morning, but I put all my snow clothes in the laundry afterwards, so we stayed in for the rest of the day.

Today I did some chores like laundry and washing the by-hand dishes, and taking out the recycling. We did a lot more episodes of Sliders, and watched The Mighty Ducks and The Rescuers. I made a batch of funeral potatoes for dinner tonight, and we had Jiffy Pop popcorn for snack.

Tomorrow is a partial work day for me. I have to log in in the morning and work on a project that's due that day or first thing Tuesday morning, but when I'm done, I can log off for the rest of the day. It's nice that I don't have to attempt coming into the office because the snow definitely won't be melted yet and the buses are going to be terrible.

My feet are pretty sore from walking in my snow shoes. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to walk on the treadmill like normal for an at-home work day.

Saturday, February 13, 2021

02/13/2021

Well, today was a full day! It snowed all night and all day and only just a short time ago stopped. We got over 24 hours of snow!! It was really beautiful and because I didn't have to deal with trying to get to or from work or anywhere, I was able to fully enjoy it for once! We ate a good breakfast and then bundled up and went out for a walk in it. It was really hard to walk in. For once, it's the really powdery kind of snow, not like we normally get. It was a real workout.

When we got home, I made tea which warmed me up! Then I made my weekend bread recipe to try out. I think it turned out pretty good, so I'll write about it tomorrow. We had burgers for lunch, and used up the last of the hamburger buns from the freezer. I used up the last of the potatoes O'Brien with breakfast. We're trying to clean out the freezers, so I'm glad to see we're making progress. We have just enough regular hash browns to make a batch of funeral potatoes, which I'm going to make tomorrow. We happen to have all the ingredients on hand for those.

We watched a bunch more Sliders today. We're well into the 4th season. We stopped a little before 5pm so we could do another walk before it got too dark. We went in the opposite direction that time. It's so pretty here when it snows. I really love it!

A nice, hot shower was in order when I got back home, and we did a couple more episodes of Sliders to finish out the disk we were on. Dinner was leftover turkey and all the trimmings from last night. Now we're settled in for one of the few winter movies I have that aren't Christmas movies: The Fugitive. It's been years since I've seen it and it's always been one of my faves!

Friday, February 12, 2021

02/12/2021

I worked from home today. It wasn't too busy so I was able to keep working on our projects and the Friday stuff I always do. During it, I rearranged one of my sister's storage containers that needed some attention. I also watched Crazy Rich Asians and The Joy Luck Club in honor of Lunar New Year. I love both of those movies so much.

It didn't snow at all today and it started to melt so I was thinking maybe we weren't going to get the round two they promised, but it started up around 6, a good four hours ahead of schedule, and it is pouring down snow now. I'll be curious to see what it looks like in the morning. I might have to go for a walk in it after breakfast.

Dinner was a turkey dinner. We bought another one of the frozen already cooked turkey breasts after Thanksgiving because we really liked it. This just seemed the right time for it. A nice snowy weekend and a turkey dinner!

I got the time mixed up when I looked up the time for the Hallmark Christmas movie tonight. It was Eastern time, not Pacific time, so it doesn't start till 9pm. We did the latest episode of WandaVision and are finishing out season two of The West Wing before it starts. I plan to look out the window or stand on the porch during the commercials. A snowy night and a Christmas movie. Perfect!

Thursday, February 11, 2021

02/11/2021

Well, I feel vindicated in changing my schedule so I can work from home the rest of the week. It snowed this afternoon. Not much, but it snowed. It has started up much more steadily and heavily this evening. Work was slow today but my coworker came up with a project to keep us occupied. It should last us a while, so that's good. I watched the impeachment trial today and also did the treadmill and watched one of The Good Witch movies I got for Christmas.

After logging out for the day, I walked down to drop off some stuff at the library. I really love living so close to it. And after that, I walked over to buy some snow snacks from Bartells. I also really love living so close to that too! By the time I left, the snow as just pouring down! It was exciting to walk home in. I'm made some white hot chocolate to drink with dinner. I'm wearing my coziest jammies too. Obviously I have to work tomorrow from home, but after that, I can just settle in and enjoy the snow! For once I don't have to fear being trapped downtown. I just hope my coworker decides to stay home tomorrow. We're mostly closed Monday for the holiday which will make Tuesday just awful, but I'd rather it be awful then in no snow but too much work, than her getting stuck downtown too to make Tuesday a little less awful.

Wednesday, February 10, 2021

02/10/2021

For a day at the office where there was very little new stuff coming in, I was actually very busy the whole day! The phones were ringing off the hook today for some reason. Like so much that calls came in while I was on the phone and people left messages I had to deal with. It was bonkers. But it made the day go fast! I also got through to somebody about my IRA and since I couldn't walk it down to the office down the street since it's closed due to the pandemic, I got an address and put it out in the mail today. I was assured I can still get it set up for this calendar year.

No snow in my neck of the woods today, but I am still glad I decided to change my schedule around. Nobody ever knows in this city how or if the snow will work, but I will not be walking home from downtown or waiting for hours for a bus, this time around if it does snow!

When I got home and showered, I sat and read for about a half hour. Buying that chair for my bedroom is one of the best decisions I've ever made! I love it so much!

Dinner was leftovers, but with a baked potato. Very exciting.

I am wearing my warmest, coziest lounge jammies in case it does snow and I have my white hot chocolate if it does. I want to drink it and watch the snow fall! It's not really supposed to start now till Friday night but who really knows...

02/09/2021

It was an on again off again busy day today. I ended up having some stuff come up with the IRA I thought had been set up for me at work having not been set up at all and now I need to redo my paperwork and actually hand it in to the IRA people, which is just down the street from my work building. I'll have to check and see if I can go, because in a pandemic, I can't just show up and hope for the best. The money is being taken out of my paycheck but it's not going anywhere yet. I definitely want this set up asap.

I decided to go in tomorrow instead of Thursday after all. I want to deal with that sooner rather than later, and there is supposed to be snow Thursday through all of the weekend and I do not want to be trying to come home from downtown to Lake City. It's just a nightmare to even think about. Even if it doesn't amount to anything and is a total disappointment, I'd rather be safe than walking home from downtown. I was originally supposed to come in anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. I'll just work from home Thursday and Friday. I did find out we're basically closed Monday for Presidents Day, except I'll have to log in in the morning to get some stuff done for a couple hours.

I did manage to walk on the treadmill in the afternoon, and watched one of my Good Witch movies. The morning was spent watching the impeachment trial and what a train wreck the defense team for Trump was. What jokes.

After logging off for the day, I walked down to the library and picked up a bunch of stuff that was ready for me. Still no season 7 of When Calls the Heart. I might just have to start watching season 8 when it starts airing in a couple weeks without having watch it because I don't want to always be seasons behind.

Ham and au gratin potatoes for dinner tonight. Tomorrow will be pizza because it might be the last day before the snow that we can go out and get stuff. My sister might do a last minute grocery shopping trip too, for anything we might need on an emergency basis. Snow could last into next week which means no grocery shopping over the weekend is a possibility. Yes, I really am "First Snowflake Freakout Lady!"

02/08/2021

Today was a long day. About 45 minutes late of a long day at the office. It wasn't a bad day, just a long one. I was in the back working on something and other stuff got turned in that I didn't see until it was close to time for me to leave and I didn't want to leave it or pawn it off on anybody else, so I just stayed and got it done. I was so hungry by the time I got home!

Dinner was spaghetti with more of the meatballs from yesterday. I'm so tired tonight. Just playing catch up on line. I paid my Visa bill online. Just settling in for tv the rest of the night. I heard from my coworker and she will not be taking Wednesday off, so my schedule is back to normal. We'll see if it snows this week, that might throw a wrench into coming back in later in the week or staying home to work.

Sunday, February 7, 2021

02/07/2021

Today I got up and read in my room for about an hour before getting ready for the day and cleaning up the kitchen a bit. Then I made the bread for the blog project, and made the meatballs for the Sliders sliders. It was a lot of energy at the start of the day.

By 10, my sister was up and we got started with watching Sliders for the day. We managed to finish out season three and started season four before we stopped for the day. I didn't do much in the way of chores today except to take out the garbage and recycling.

I made sliders for dinner tonight out of potato rolls, split and buttered and sprinkled with granulated garlic. Then I sprinkled them with mozzarella cheese. I heated some of the chicken meatballs in marinara sauce and put them on the rolls. It was filling and pretty good. We ate it while watching our Disney movie of the week: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It was cute. We're now watching an episode of GBBO and I'll probably finish the night with JAG.

Office day tomorrow.

02/06/2021

Today was a big errand day. It started with Burger King breakfast and a stop at Joan Fabrics for my sister. I didn't need anything there so I waited in the car while she went int. Then we drove out to the outlet mall in Marysville where I got new shoes from the Nike store. My current pair are a couple years old and have a hole in the toe. I'll keep the old ones as backups. We also stopped at Sketchers so my sister could get some shoes. We also went to the Disney store and Hot Topic where we got some fun new t-shirts and other stuff.

After we finished at the outlet Mall, we went to the Fred Meyer to do our grocery shopping for the week and look at some decorations. We got a head start on our spring decorations. We had DQ for lunch.

We went to visit our grandmother after that. It was the first time since last Christmas that we've been able to visit. I have missed seeing her, so it was really nice. She didn't know we were coming, so she was surprised and so happy to see us. We got to meet one of her caregivers, who is so nice and lovely. I want to try to see her more often now, if we can.

We stopped by my parents' house to pick up some stuff and drop off my dad's birthday card and present. We always get him coffee beans cuz that's what he loves the most. He had printed off my entire book for me so I can edit it with pen and paper, my preferred method. I have it here with me now so I can start that next week, hopefully.

After a quick stop at the library for my sister to pick up some stuff, it took two trips from the car to bring everything up. The first thing I did after putting everything away, was take a shower. Too much out of the house and interaction with others to not do that. Then we settled in and watched The Sound of Music. Now we're watching Sliders for the rest of the night.

I'm pretty tired and my arms are sore from holding the bags of groceries and stuff we bought at the mall. Hopefully a good night's sleep will fix all of that!

02/05/2021

I worked from home and it was bonkers busy all day long! I waited too long to eat lunch so my bloodsugar got too low. I still took a break after eating and doing my walk on the treadmill, and I felt so refreshed afterwards. I could totally feel the endorphins. It was great. I had just enough time in between work stuff today to run a couple loads of laundry so our Christmas movie shirts are ready to wear tonight. I also washed my bedding and remade my bed, as well. I also filled and ran the dishwasher.

My sister brought home sandwiches for dinner, and we watched the latest episode of WandaVision, and an episode of GBBO before we tune into the Hallmark Friday night Christmas movie. I will be wearing one of my new shirts, of course!

I am making progress on cleaning out the freezer, and hope to continue to do so over the weekend and into next week. I am putting my menu on hold as my sister has food she wants to eat up and I want to keep cleaning out the freezer and have to rearrange my office days a bit too. This will be a good week for this kind of eating.

Big chore day tomorrow. Long day out of the house. I'll probably be really tired when I get done!

Thursday, February 4, 2021

2/4/2021

Today was a full office day and it was a busy day. I like busy days if I'm at the office, so I was happy. I had the radio on so it was nice to listen to, helped pass the time. I handled the phones too and it got kind of busy in the afternoon, I was on the phone and somebody was calling on the other line and I was unable to answer it. That actually happened twice and I was able to get the second call the second time around.

The bus arrived in better time today for the ride home and I was so tired I think I actually fell asleep for a few minutes! That hasn't happened in a long time. I'm definitely tired today.

Leftovers for dinner tonight. The usual shows on tv tonight. Nothing too interesting to note today, just a nice day.

Wednesday, February 3, 2021

02/03/2021

Today was slooooow. Like, slow enough that my coworker and I were emailing about tv shows. I'm trying to convince her to watch Walker and Cobra Kai. There was some stuff that came in, but I had long gaps in between it. I organized the kitchen shelves with the pots and pans and moved the lids to the shelf under the oven. I read and walked on the treadmill again, and watched another of The Good Witch movies. I discussed with my boss about switching next week so I'll come in Wednesday instead of Thursday to the office and stay till 5 instead of 4 cuz my coworker will be taking the day off and he'll need extra coverage. Then I'll just work from home Thursday and Friday. It'll be fine.

Dinner today was quick stew that I made in the afternoon and reheated before eating. All I had to do was add the last of the ingredients, reseason, and thicken it. It made enough that it'll be my dinner tomorrow night and also lunch for Friday most likely.

The usual shows tonight. We'll start the next series of GBBO. Not a very exciting day to write about, but a very nice day.

Today was much slower than yesterday. I made my very first ever bowl of Malt-O-Meal for breakfast today. It's definitely a nice chance of pace from oatmeal. I might try it again soon with my traditional oatmeal toppings and see how it works. I was able to prep dinner, get the sink caught up, fill and run the dishwasher, take some breaks, in which I started the last book in the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, and did my walking on the treadmill while watching an episode of Batman. I also watched an episode of Black Lightning, watched the first of the Good Witch movies I got for Christmas, which happened to be a Christmas movie, and I ran a load of laundry when my new Hallmark Christmas watching t-shirt arrived.

I really liked doing the walking in the middle of the day. I think I'm going to do that from now on. I also emailed with my dad and sent him all the chapters of my book for him to print 2/page, double-sided for me so I can edit them. I do better actually editing with pen and paper, and not having them printed has been hampering me. It'll be worth whatever he charges me for ink and paper to have it all printed out.

Dinner tonight was a new recipe that I fancied up a bit and it was a winner! Burrito Bake, with crescent roll dough crust. Super easy, and I improved it by adding crushed tortilla chips and more cheese on the top so it was basically like nachos. West Wing and we'll finish the series of GBBO tonight. I'll end the day with a JAG episode.

02/01/2021

It was a day today! I was busy solid till after 2pm at work today before it slowed down enough for me to work in the back room to get everything caught up there. The day passed pleasantly enough though, well-paced. I tried double-masking on the bus and at work, and it seemed to work really well. It didn't make it any harder to breathe, so that was good.

Since we're staying full days at the office, I brought in all my tv dinners I bought Saturday, which cleared out a lot of space in the freezer at home. My hope for this week is to keep emptying out the freezer for lunches on my home days. I have all these mystery foil-wrapped packages so I might just build meals around whatever I pull out each day.

Leftovers tonight, and I got the sink under control, but that was it for chores for the day. We started season two of The West Wing tonight and now we're doing GBBO. I'll finish with an episode of JAG before bed. Working from home tomorrow.
