Welcome to Silver and Shadow

"Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds." -L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

This is a blog I will be using for topics other than food. Politics, religion, spirituality, humor, green living, anything that I want to talk about that doesn't fall under the food/cooking category.

Acts Trump Has Altered While in Office

(Source)

There's a post making its way through social media listing 28 acts that Trump has altered in some way, but provides no context or fact checking. Since I have nothing better to do today, I'm going to post links to each act so people can read up on what it is, and what Trump has done to it. I'd say "Enjoy!" but I doubt any of these are changes for the better...

.) The National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA

.) The Endangered Species Act

.) The Clean Water Act

.) The National Historic Preservation Act. Read the bottom of page two, in particular.

.) The Migratory Bird Treaty Act

.) The Migratory Bird Conservation Act-I can't seem to find anything about this separate from the Migratory Bird Conservation Act. Either these are interconnected acts, or this was on the list by mistake.

.) The Clean Air Act

.) The Archeaological Resources Protection Act Why this random act? Because it's easier to change the rules when you want to build a wall that will definitely encroach on this, than to follow the rules.

.) The Paleontological Resources Preservation Act

.) The Federal Cave Resources Protection Act Read carefully the list at the end of this. It has even more items on it than the original post does.

.) The Safe Drinking Water Act

.) The Noise Control Act-Everything I could find on this was behind a pay wall and Wikipedia doesn't really say much about this one. But based on the kind of act it is, we can surmise that he altered it either because Obama did something to it, or it impeded in the building of his wall, or he just wanted to have big businesses not have to have as many regulations. Or any combination of those options.

.) The Solid Waste Proposal Act

.) The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act aka, Superfund

.)  The Archaeological and Historic Preservation Act

.) The Antiquities Act

.) The Historic Sites, Buildings, and Antiquities Act

.) The Farmland Protecton Policy Act

.) The Coastal Zone Management Act

.) The Federal Land Policy and Management Act

.) The National Wildlife Refuge System Administration Act

.) The National Fish and Wildlife Act

.) The Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act. Like some of the others, I think this is interconnected to the above act. I can't find anything specific to this in my searching but it's probably there because the one previous is on it.

.) The Administration Procedure Act

.) The Rivers and Harbors Act This seems to be more of a reference for other water-related regulations Trump wants to make. Basically, using this act to redefine what is a body of water in this country so they can have their regulations altered.

.) The Eagle Protection Act This is actually the only one I've found so far that might not be true. It seems that there may have been some confusion over this one. However, it doesn't mean Trump isn't doing plenty to make it more difficult to protect our endangered species in this country. In fact, he seems to be doing everything to make it easier to kill them off entirely.

.) The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act

.) The American Indian Religious Freedom Act So, this one doesn't seem to be an alteration to the act so much as it's a violation of it.

If you carefully read through all of these articles, you'll see that three patterns emerge to Trump's alterations he's made so far. They are nearly all reversals of something Obama did, or they are something that was standing in his way of getting the wall built, or they were things did to make it easier for big businesses to not have to pay their way or clean up their messes. If you can read through these and still question whether or not you should vote for the Democrat nominee, then I can't really tell you anything else that will change your mind. You're unfortunately, what I call, a lost cause...
