STFAH: Day 39

Today sort of felt like a non-day. I got up around 11am, which is ridiculously late. I watched some stuff on Youtube, then did an episode of Black Lightning, and then my movie. And that's about it. I took out the garbage and recycling and had to take the bag of compost back with me cuz apparently they take the bin out Thursday afternoon for Friday pick up. Lesson learned. The one item in the mail was a letter from the IRS telling me about the $1200 stimulus check and it had Trump's signature on the bottom so I definitely tore that up into small pieces and threw in the recycling. I did rinse and stack the dishes and filled/ran the dishwasher. I also washed a couple of large pots by hand that wouldn't fit in the dishwasher.

I was going to make muffins, and I suppose technically I still have time for that...We'll see. I can also do that tomorrow. I've been working on a grocery list so that when we do our every-other-week shopping this weekend, I can keep better track of items. The hard part is, we're in a new neighborhood and we moved right when this started so we haven't had a chance to memorize the new stores and where everything is, so it takes us longer to find everything.

Last night, when I should have been going to bed, I was up rearranging the wires in our living room. There were some redundancies and I was able to move a few things around to make everything more out of the way, and more safe. And I don't know about you, but electrical safety is a high priority to me!

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was S, and I went with 1994's The Shawshank Redemption.
This movie comes highly recommended to me by two different people who I trust with movie judgement, and they were not wrong. This is a great movie and even though there's nothing supernatural or creepy going on, you can feel the Stephen King touch in the story. Somehow I have managed to live this long and never see this movie. It's the kind of movie though that almost makes you want to rewatch from the start when you see where it was all leading. This is another great one from this project!

STFAH: Day 38

Today was a pretty nice day. Nothing too extraordinary happened. Watched some more Youtube videos, and a couple episodes of Black Lightning before settling in for my movie. I did a few chores, finished a sudoku puzzle that took all day, and didn't peek at the answers once! It was rough, but I made it.

The highlight of my day was probably my walk outside. My foot is basically pain free now and I am also no longer limping. The hardest part now is continuing to pace myself when I want to go longer, further, and faster. But my thigh and leg muscles are sore because not only do I have to rehab from my foot injury, but I was trying to rehab from my knee injury when I hurt my foot. Literally the first day. So, I still technically need to rehab from my knee injury as well as my foot. All very good reasons why I cannot go too fast. I have to pace myself or something else might happen.

Dinner tonight was a chicken paprika recipe that was pretty good, but I'm holding out my final judgement for tomorrow after leftovers. It called for pasta on the side, but I still have so much rice leftover from the last two days that I just used that instead. I was able to use up a lot of the veggies in my fridge, which is always nice. We're planning a trip to the store this weekend so I'll get more fresh veggies then.

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was R, and I found a movie called The Rainmaker, from 1997.
I had never heard of this one before but was impressed with the cast, and then I saw it was Francis Ford Coppola directing, I knew I had to try it out. I thought it was actually pretty good. There were three cases that Matt Damon's character takes care of as he begins his career as a lawyer, and you really find yourself caring about all of them. If you like legal shows and courtroom dramas, you'll like this one too. Definitely check it out!

STFAH: Day 37

I got up a bit earlier than usual this morning and finished the book I've been reading. When Heaven and Earth Changed Places. This is the true story of one woman's survival during the Vietnam War. I highly recommend this book, but I would give a trigger warning for rape, torture, and war-related deaths written in detail. It's a painful read, but it's an important read too.

I did my new usual stuff today. Youtube videos followed by some Black Lighting episodes on Netflix, and finished up with my movie for the day. I managed to eat breakfast today, not something I've been doing a lot since this all started. Took out the garbage/compost/recycling and picked up the mail. Got a refund check from the phone company after cancelling our account with them. Now I just need my credit union to open...or to at least get to it to deposit it through the ATM. I don't have a smartphone so I can't do the remote deposit option, sadly. I also read for a while.

In other chores done today, I swept my bathroom and the kitchen, and got all the dishes under control. Very exciting!

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was Q, and my options were sparse, but I ended up with a fantastic movie called Queen, from 2014.
This was a subtitled Indian movie and I really loved this one. A young woman from India is dumped on the eve of her wedding and ends up going on her honeymoon to Paris by herself. When she gets there, she meets a bunch of people who would become lifelong friends and learns a lot about herself. It has some great foodie moments and a great ending that I won't spoil. I highly, highly recommend this one! This is the best thing about this movie project. I have watched both movies I have never had a chance to watch yet, and movies I would never have thought to try otherwise. If you are in a position to do something like this, you really should. It's a lot of fun!

STFAH: Day 36

Today was a pleasant day, all around. I lounged in bed and got up late, then watched some Youtube videos. I switched over to my Alphabet Movies and had the last of my thawed out Papa Murphy's pizza for lunch. My foot was pain-free for the most part so I did my rehab walk outside in the nice weather. Took a nice warm shower, read for a while as dinner cooked. Ate a lovely bbq pork spare rib and rice dinner, and have settled in for an evening of Psych reruns. Also, I managed to reach my 8 glasses/day water challenge. Definitely nice to keep up with.

I tried hanging up my big heavy painting in my bedroom but it fell down. Luckily nothing was damaged but I need to try it again. I used 4 of the velcro strips that says it should hold up to 16lbs. that way but this painting is about 8 lbs. I think the problem was that I saw it was tilted and tried to redo the strips so it was straight, without doing anything to the strips, so they were not fully locked together. I should have just tossed the strips and tried all new ones. I'll try that tomorrow and see what happens.

I did a nice 13 minute walk this afternoon outside. I found a benefit from walking outside with the mask on the whole time instead of just when people are around: pollen. This time of year I usually have so many sinus headaches because of the pollen in the air. I might do this from now on each spring. It's time to normalize mask-wearing. I know it's done in other parts of the world as a matter of course, but it's time to do it here too! It was glorious and there were also stormy-looking clouds that were so pretty too! I loved it. And I walked limp-free for the first time since hurting my foot.

I'm getting really close to finishing the book I've been reading for the last few weeks. I'll write up a bit of a review when I finally finish it. I have the last book I started at work for my breaks and waiting for the bus and I'll finish that one after before moving on to one of my many "to be read" books.

I wrote a little too. I finished out a page and moved on to the next. I'm getting to the part of the chapter where I need to "live write" it, so when I get there, I'll type out all I've written by hand so far, and go from there. I'll finish the chapter out and then can go back to editing my already-written chapters.

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was P, and I had seen this movie show up many times as I flipped through looking for movies. I'd heard many good things but had never seen it. 1993's Philadelphia.
Based on what I'd seen over the years, pictures, etc, I assumed Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington were lovers. I was very wrong. I was also very outraged watching this. I was too young when the HIV/AIDS hysteria of the 80's hit to really remember the abject terror of it. I was the first generation of children educated about it, based on science and not fear, so we learned not to be scared of people with HIV/AIDS, so it's upsetting to see the fear and the unfair treatment of the LGBT community during this time. The story ended up not really even being about the lawsuit, but about giving the audience a chance to see a person with AIDS not as a statistic or a stereotype, but as a human who was about to lose his life well before his time. We also see one man's journey from being a prejudiced homophobe, to being a pretty woke person. The outcome of the case is completely obscured, which hammers home the idea that this isn't what this movie is about. If you're not outraged and moved while watching this movie, I don't know what to tell you. I'm glad I finally got a chance to watch it. Highly recommend this one.

STFAH: Day 35

Well, today I truly did stay at home! I didn't even leave the apartment! Today felt almost like a typical Sunday, with the exception of no grocery shopping. I did two loads of laundry. Sunday is my usual laundry day and I've kept that going this whole time. I got the sink under control, did a load of dishes in the dishwasher, and I also wiped down the stove.

I made the decision to throw out my sourdough starter and will keep the jar I was using, but I don't plan on trying it again for a while. It just doesn't get warm enough in my apartment and there's nowhere I can set it that would get a consistent level of heat to make it really work out well. And if I wait for warmer weather, I'm not likely to want to use the oven to bake anything, so it doesn't make sense to do it then, either. I'll just keep an eye out for yeast to make a comeback at the store and buy my sourdough bread already made from a bakery or grocery store. I also didn't like how it made my apartment smell, so there's that too. But it was a fun experiment while it lasted. Maybe another time.

I successfully completed a sudoku puzzle from start to finish today, which was very exciting. I'm definitely getting the hang of it!

But the majority of my day was spent watching movies for our MCU rewatch. We started off with Guardians of the Galaxy, then moved on to Avengers: Age of Ultron, and then finished off with Ant-Man. We're now watching Fantasia for our Disney movie rewatch. All of this was courtesy of Disney+! We have it all on dvd but I didn't feel like digging them out. It's been nice to just pull it up on the screen.

I don't have many big plans for the week to come, except for my water challenge. I wrote out a chart and starting tomorrow, for the entire week, including the weekend, my goal is the drink 8 glasses of water a day. I know I haven't been drinking enough water, so now's the time to get back on track with it. Who knows, I might do some baking this week too. I still have a lot of applesauce to use up. Dinner plan for tomorrow: pork spare ribs with bbq sauce and rice. If my asparagus is still good, I'll have that on the side. If it's not, canned greenbeans will do!

STFAH: Day 34

Today was a pretty nice day. I woke up in a more timely time and spent the morning reading in bed. It was quite lovely. For lunch, we called in an order from Heaven Scent and picked up some fried chicken for me and chicken strips for my sister. We worked in my sister's room for a bit and I put up the last of the pictures in the hallway. It looks really nice now! I also took out a bunch of recycling/garbage/compost too.

We have so much stuff to take to Goodwill now and nowhere to put it because no place is accepting donations right now cuz of the pandemic. We are putting it all in our treadmill area so I'm not able to use it until we get rid of the stuff. I am being forced to go outside to do my rehab walking. Fortunately, it's pretty flat around here and I can walk as slowly as I need to. I take my mask with me and wear it whenever other people are around. My foot was sore today and when I walked, it was cramping up pretty badly but it actually feels much better after walking. Maybe it just needed to be stretched out. A nice warm shower probably helped it too.

We tried to watch Miss Congeniality today since it's "The Perfect Date," but the dvd died part way through and wouldn't work in either player so we're going to have to buy a new copy. Fortunately it's not expensive so we'll probably get a new copy soon. I was pretty sad that our movie plans were ruined, but there was nothing to do but get over it. We watched an episode of Psych and now we're into our MCU rewatch. We finished Thor: The Dark World, and now we're watching Captain America: Winter Soldier. We'll continue tomorrow too.

Some exciting news for me: Last night I finally successfully did a sudoku puzzle! I guess it takes a while to get the hang of it.

Oven-baked French toast and sausages for dinner tonight. I think it was the best batch I've ever made. Also on the food front: I think my sourdough starter is officially dead. I need to decide if I should just be done with it or if I should try it again. It just never got bubbly enough and I don't know what I did wrong. It's kind of a pain to deal with, so if it's not going to pay off, I'm not sure I want to deal with it. We'll see...

STFAH: Day 33

Well, I'd say today was better than yesterday, in general, though it started so late I feel like I haven't done much, though I guess I really have when you think about it. I woke up around 8am and fell back to sleep and the next thing I knew it was 11:07am!!! So much for getting anything done in the morning!

We ordered Tub's Subs on the phone and then ran out to get it. It was the first time I have left the apartment building since last Saturday, I believe. Tried the chicken Caesar sandwich and the garlic pasta salad. Both are really good! While we ate, we watched my Alphabet Movie.

Afterwards, I took out a load of garbage/compost/recycling and grabbed the mail. I watched a couple videos on youtube, and worked on my writing for a while. I actually managed quite a bit of writing this afternoon.

I tried out the sudoku puzzles again, this time trying the "difficult" and "moderate" ones to see if they are any different. I didn't really find them any more or less difficult than the "easy" ones. This is leading me to believe that it's not a logic issue for me. It's a patience and attention span issue. I'm going to keep trying them, but they definitely don't come automatically to me. I guess you can't teach a Gryffinpuff to play a Ravenclaw game!

On the foot front, it's feeling very good today and the swelling is minimal. Both of them, however, are cold, so I have thick winter socks on them. It's super cold here and has been all week but for some stupid reason I keep wearing shorts instead of switching to long pants.

Today's movie was Obvious Child, from 2014.
This one was much better than yesterday's movie, that's for sure! It's definitely rated R for a reason, and it deals with some controversial subjects, so watch with discretion. But, I really liked this one. Jenny Slate is really good in it.

Leftover sandwich and made some Top Ramen for dinner tonight. Watching Iron Man 3 in our ongoing MCU rewatch. No weekend plans yet, except tomorrow is "The Perfect Date," so we will be watching Miss Congeniality, at the very least.

STFAH: Day 32

Well, today was a rather frustrating day. I tried sudoku for the first time and I totally sudosucked at it. As a leo, there is nothing worse than something making me feel stupid. I feel like I can't give up after two puzzles but I don't like that I couldn't immediately pick up on even the simplest level of puzzles. And then my Alphabet movie was crap, but I'll get to that later. And I didn't write even though I should have and wanted to so I feel very unaccomplished today. Also, I think I may have cooked my sourdough starter when I was trying to heat it up and it might be dead now. I might try it for pancakes or something and see what happens but it's definitely not ready for bread yet. Disappointing all around, really.

There were a few good things. I rewatched Much Ado About Nothing in honor of Shakespeare's birthday. Joss Whedon's version is probably the best I've seen of that play. I watched an Angel reunion video on youtube last night and thought to myself it would be fun to watch the movie soon and then woke up to find out it was Shakespeare's birthday and figured it was too perfect a time to pass up.

I also baked an applesauce bread, which is like banana bread but with applesauce. I have an open jar I need to start using up before it gets moldy since I'm not using it for my work breakfasts right now. I found several recipes to test but started off with the bread. I added craisins to it and it turned out really good! Quite tasty.

I also managed to do some time on the treadmill but now my foot hurts again. There's like, one spot that keeps hanging onto the pain. I read for a bit and elevated my foot but I guess it's just another good reason I'm doing every other day to start walking again.

I also did a few chores in my bathroom, which is nice. So, I guess it wasn't all bad. Now we're watching Psych. Dual Spires. The best episode they ever did.

Ok, now for my Alphabet Movie. Today's letter was N, and I chose a movie called The Natural, from 1984.
This was a big mistake cuz this movie sucked!! It was long, boring, and barely had a plot. Like, I still don't actually know what it was about, it was that bad. Do not waste your time with this one. Hopefully tomorrow's movie will better!!

STFAH: Day 31

Today started with good news. I emailed my boss some of my thoughts last night and he called me first thing this morning to talk. We're a small office, we had a total of five employees, but one of us got a job at the end of March and is moving on, so now we're four. Since we had so few people, they told us they were going to continue paying our paychecks and healthcare for the month of April and then would temporarily lay us off so we could gather unemployment and get on the ACA. Today my boss told me that they really want to make sure they retain me so they're going to actually continue to pay me and fund my healthcare for all of May as well! In theory, the state stay at home order may be rescinded towards the end of May and if we see an uptick in work coming in, I may be able to go back to work. If I'm lucky I won't have an interruption in income and healthcare. I am very aware of how lucky I am and have been counting my blessings many times a day and will continue to do so!

Because of my good luck, I felt a little more comfortable using some of my stimulus check to help out something I wanted to help with for a while now but was feeling a little unsure of spending too much money. But because I'm feeling more secure, I went ahead and made a donation to the Woodland Park Zoo to help them stay afloat until they can open again. I really miss going there and I hope that all the animals and employees make it through this unscathed.

In around-the-house things, I did my usual "new normal" routine of watching some stuff on Youtube before switching to a couple Black Lightning episodes and then onto my movie. I hung up two more pictures, organized my candy box, managed to do some writing, and read while elevating my foot for a while. My foot is having a really good day pain-wise but I didn't do the treadmill to make sure I don't get back into using it too much too soon like I tend to do. I really don't want to re-injure myself.

On the sourdough starter front, I tried a new tactic. I heated up a pan of water, not too hot, and set it in to warm it up and jumpstart the fermentation. I also added a bunch of flour to it since it's too thin and runny right now. Hopefully both of those will help and maybe this weekend or next week it'll be ready for making a loaf of bread. It's been really cold these last few days and it's wet today and supposed to be wet the rest of the weekend so that's probably affecting it too.

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was M, and I choose 2016's Moonlight.
I thought it was pretty good. Heartbreaking. Artistic. Naomi Harris was great, but I have to say that for all the awards Mahershala Ali won for this movie, I thought he'd be in the film more than he was. I see why he won though, the particular scene that was "the" scene for him was fantastic. He just kind of disappeared a third of the way into it never to be seen again. I felt like he deserved to have more screen time. And also Janelle Monae. She just needs to be in everything. I'm pretty sure I heard her voice in some of the songs though, like she did for Hidden Figures. I'm excited that Netflix has some of these big name movies available. It's been fun finally seeing them!

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

STFAH: Day 30

Today was a pretty good day. I spent the morning watching Youtube videos and making a separate folder to put podcasts to try some day down the road. I finished out season one in my Black Lightning rewatch on Netflix. I prepared the rest of the roast chicken for tacos tonight and tomorrow and used the leftover potatoes, some veggies, and the chicken juices, along with the chicken bones, to make a bowl of soup to go with my lunch. It was quite tasty, as were tonight's tacos. And I get to enjoy a repeat tomorrow night too!

I managed a bit of writing today, which I'm really happy about. But what was really exciting, was walking on the treadmill finally. My sprained foot is getting to the point where it has good days and bad days instead of just bad days. On the good days, I'm going to do short amounts of time at slow speeds to do a bit of rehab for my foot. I did 10 minutes and walked a third of a mile! Normally I'd do that in my sleep pretty much, but now it's a big deal! I still have to elevate my foot at night, I learned that the hard way the other day which is why I couldn't use the treadmill yesterday. My plan is to start with every other day for a couple weeks, and I think I need to switch to my other shoes because the ones I normally use for the treadmill because the shoe laces hit my foot in a different set of places and caused my foot to hurt more when I was done. I've been doing really well in my other shoes, so that seems like an easy solution.

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was L, and I chose La Bamba, from 1987.
This was actually a pretty good movie, and I learned a lot of things today. First: Lou Diamond Phillips is actually Filipino-American, not Latinx!. Did you know this? Second: Ritchie Valens was on the plane with Buddy Holly when it crashed, along with a third musician as well. Third: "The day the music died," the line referenced in the song American Pie wasn't just a cool line, it's actually what that event was called. Everybody talks about Buddy Holly in the song, but they never refer to anybody else. That kinda sucks. But I definitely recommend this movie. It's a pretty classic biopic.

STFAH: Day 29

Today was a pretty good day. I put up the magnets from our fridge and freezers at the old place and arranged the artwork where we want to put it once we get the stuff to hang it with. We're trying to use Command Strips instead of nailing anything into the walls. Those didn't exist when we moved in to our old place, but they do now and I think they're one of the best newer inventions I can think of! I hung up my picture set of Snow White photos, as well as the one toy and her collar that I saved. And I did manage to vacuum. It's definitely starting to feel more organized and more like home. I also got the dishes under control so the kitchen looks better too.

I watched a few things on Youtube, watched a couple episodes of Black Lightning on Netflix, watched my Alphabet Movie(more on that later), and read while elevating my foot for a while. I even managed a bit of writing. Sadly, my foot was in pain today so I did not do the treadmill. Every day will be different. Some days it'll hurt more, some days less, so I'll treat my walking/rehab appropriately.

I got a few items in the mail today. I ordered some stuff from my "hobbies to try" list that weren't too expensive that I could have on hand when I wanted to try them out. I am now the proud owner of a package of origami paper, a sudoku book, and a set of water color paints. I have some special paper coming in a while too. I thought it would be a fun idea to illustrate my book!

So, today's Alphabet Movie letter was K, and I chose 2004's classic movie, Kung Fu Hustle.
It's subtitled, a satire, and pretty funny. It's exactly what you think a movie called Kung Fu Hustle would be like. If you want a silly movie that pokes fun at the other movies in this genre, you will enjoy this one!

I'm still trying to get my sourdough starter ready for making bread later this week. I feel like it's not doing much and I might leave it out of the fridge for a couple days to let it stay warm enough to start fermenting again. I finally let it sit in the window for a while with the window open in hopes of it sucking up some outdoor yeasts. Maybe it'll help stimulate it. I fed it straight flour last night so that should help eventually.

The rest of the roast chicken from tonight's leftovers will be turned into soup and tacos! Taco Tuesday tomorrow!

Sunday, April 19, 2020

STFAH: Day 28

So, today was generally a good day. I made a Greek-seasoned roast chicken with matching roast potatoes and asparagus and it was amazing! We watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding while eating because today is Orthodox/Greek Orthodox Easter. Then we watched The Hunt for Red October in honor of Tim Curry's birthday, and had bacon and pancakes for dinner. All around awesome food and movie day!

On the chore front, I did two loads of laundry and the by-hand dish washing. I also swept the kitchen floor. Not exciting, but necessary.

Then I read about the protestors in Olympia and was so disappointed and outraged. These people don't have the right to endanger everybody else. One of our state's representatives actually advocated shooting cops who try to interfere with people trying to fish. How dare they? If the people advocating for this were not white there's no way they wouldn't have been shot or hauled off to jail, but because they're white, they get a pass. It's absolutely infuriating.

Not much else of note today. Back to my Alphabet Movies tomorrow. I want to vacuum. We'll see if I manage to do it.

STFAH: Day 27

Well, another weekend is here. We started the day with a trip to the store since we were out of or running low on several things. Then we picked up lunch from Taco Time and came back to watch Psych for a while. Took a lovely shower and we found a three hour long Supernatural thing on Youtube that we pulled up on the tv to watch. Worked on crossword puzzles most of the afternoon. I bought a couple new puzzle books at the store that are a variety and have stuff I've never heard of before! I should stay occupied for some time to come now!

The big excitement of the day is that all the walking I did today with shopping did not hurt my foot. I've been tired afterwards because I'm not used to that much walking again yet, but I think I'm ready to start slowly exercising on the treadmill next week. My sister pointed out that I'd be better on the treadmill since it's stable and has no potholes, which I seem to have problems with. I'm really happy that I'm finally getting back on track and can start exercising again.

We're going to do a few chores tonight, taking out the compost, garbage, and recycling, and then probably settle in for more Psych. I've recently finally jumped into the world of Pinterest and am currently remaking Disneyland in board form. I might work on that a bit too...Not a big adventure day, but a pleasant day. Chicken burger and tater tots for dinner. Very exciting.

STFAH: Day 26

Today's hightlights included washing my bedding, discovering gunk in the washer and having to wash it with hot water, vinegar, and baking soda and then wiping it all down with a magic eraser. And I worked on a politics blog post regarding a lot of acts that Donald Trump has changed, and not for the better, for most of the afternoon.

Other activities I worked on include: Watching a couple youtube videos, watching a few more episodes of Black Lightning, eating a tv dinner for lunch, going on a short walk nearly around the block, and making my bed. It was quite the thrilling day!

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was J and let me tell you, it is hard to find movies that begin with that letter. I ended up with 2014's film adaptation of Jersey Boys.
I am not familiar with the stage version of this story, but sadly I found this version to be a little lackluster and dare I say, even boring? Maybe it was since I just watched Goodfellas this week too that I can't help but compare it to that. This wasn't Goodfellas...

Leftover pork chop Marsala and Psych reruns tonight. Grocery store tomorrow.

Acts Trump Has Altered While in Office

(Source)

There's a post making its way through social media listing 28 acts that Trump has altered in some way, but provides no context or fact checking. Since I have nothing better to do today, I'm going to post links to each act so people can read up on what it is, and what Trump has done to it. I'd say "Enjoy!" but I doubt any of these are changes for the better...

1.) The National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA

2.) The Endangered Species Act

3.) The Clean Water Act

4.) The National Historic Preservation Act. Read the bottom of page two, in particular.

5.) The Migratory Bird Treaty Act

6.) The Migratory Bird Conservation Act-I can't seem to find anything about this separate from the Migratory Bird Conservation Act. Either these are interconnected acts, or this was on the list by mistake.

7.) The Clean Air Act

8.) The Archeaological Resources Protection Act Why this random act? Because it's easier to change the rules when you want to build a wall that will definitely encroach on this, than to follow the rules.

9.) The Paleontological Resources Preservation Act

10.) The Federal Cave Resources Protection Act Read carefully the list at the end of this. It has even more items on it than the original post does.

11.) The Safe Drinking Water Act

12.) The Noise Control Act-Everything I could find on this was behind a pay wall and Wikipedia doesn't really say much about this one. But based on the kind of act it is, we can surmise that he altered it either because Obama did something to it, or it impeded in the building of his wall, or he just wanted to have big businesses not have to have as many regulations. Or any combination of those options.

13.) The Solid Waste Proposal Act

14.) The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act aka, Superfund

15.)  The Archaeological and Historic Preservation Act

16.) The Antiquities Act

17.) The Historic Sites, Buildings, and Antiquities Act

18.) The Farmland Protecton Policy Act

19.) The Coastal Zone Management Act

20.) The Federal Land Policy and Management Act

21.) The National Wildlife Refuge System Administration Act

22.) The National Fish and Wildlife Act

23.) The Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act. Like some of the others, I think this is interconnected to the above act. I can't find anything specific to this in my searching but it's probably there because the one previous is on it.

24.) The Administration Procedure Act

25.) The Rivers and Harbors Act This seems to be more of a reference for other water-related regulations Trump wants to make. Basically, using this act to redefine what is a body of water in this country so they can have their regulations altered.

26.) The Eagle Protection Act This is actually the only one I've found so far that might not be true. It seems that there may have been some confusion over this one. However, it doesn't mean Trump isn't doing plenty to make it more difficult to protect our endangered species in this country. In fact, he seems to be doing everything to make it easier to kill them off entirely.

27.) The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act

28.) The American Indian Religious Freedom Act So, this one doesn't seem to be an alteration to the act so much as it's a violation of it.

If you carefully read through all of these articles, you'll see that three patterns emerge to Trump's alterations he's made so far. They are nearly all reversals of something Obama did, or they are something that was standing in his way of getting the wall built, or they were things did to make it easier for big businesses to not have to pay their way or clean up their messes. If you can read through these and still question whether or not you should vote for the Democrat nominee, then I can't really tell you anything else that will change your mind. You're unfortunately, what I call, a lost cause...

STFAH: Day 25

Since we watched the Alphabet Movie later in the evening, I had more of my day to do other stuff. So, instead of cleaning or working on my book, of course I started a Black Lightning rewatch on Netflix. I started off the day as planned, though, watched a few things on Youtube first, then switched to Netflix. I didn't even read and elevate my foot! I did manage to go outside on a bit of a walk. My foot is feeling so much better. I still have a slight limp, but the pain is going way down.

I spent most of my afternoon working on my food blog writing up my sourdough starter experiences. I was thinking that I might sometimes put off my book writing, but I've been doing a lot of blogging, which is writing.

Ate a late dinner, pork chops Marsala with spaghetti and a side of cauliflower with cheese sauce(frozen). Watching the Disney Family Sing-Along and loving it!

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was I, and my sister really wanted me to watch Instant Family, so I waited till later in the day and watched it with her.
This was really good! It's a pretty realistic look into the foster care system in this country and a family that is created out of the system. And it's got Octavia Spencer in it, so you know it's gonna be good. I definitely recommend this one.

STFAH: Day 24

So, today was a low-key day except for the exciting moment that was devouring my first sourdough biscuit!! I will be doing a proper food blog post hopefully tomorrow, but I think it was a success! I'm going for actual bread next week.

I have been using my mornings to watch some of the longer youtube videos I bookmark over time when I don't have the time to watch it. Some of them are dead links, so I'm just deleting those, but this has been a good chance to catch up on those videos. Normally I would go from that to working on writing, but today I went from that, to the movie, and then worked on my writing in the afternoon. I had a to-do list with three items on it and I only managed to get one of them done. Like other people have been saying, it's clearly not "not enough time" that keeps me from getting chores done. It's just cuz I don't feel like it, I guess!

I read and elevated my foot while dinner was baking in the oven, and then I made the biscuits, baked them, and then devoured them! Now we're settled in for an evening of Psych reruns and either crossword puzzles, or copying out recipes. We'll see. No plans for dinner yet for tomorrow. We'll see what I come up with.

Today's Alphabet Movie letter was H, and I chose the movie Hope Springs Eternal, from 2018.
This was really good. The basic premise is a teenaged girl dealing with cancer goes into remission and has to deal with the emotional fallout of that. How could you possibly have emotional fallout from going into remission, you might ask. Well, because it's a change. And change is hard to deal with. This movie deals with it really well, and opened my eyes to the fact that things that are good can still come with emotional baggage and issues. It's why it's so important that we talk to people about their feelings. I highly recommend this one! My sister has a movie she wants me to watch that begins with I, so I'll write about that tomorrow. So far I've been getting all my movies from Netflix, but she has the dvd of this one. We'll see how it is!

STFAH: Day 23

No writing today. We went out to get Burger King for breakfast and came home to eat it. It was delish! We watched some Psych episodes before switching over to my movie of the day, but more about that later. Then I elevated my foot in bed and read for an hour or so before getting our breakfast-for-dinner ready. It was breakfast all day!! Rinsed and stacked the dishes and started a load in the dishwasher. Now we've got more Psych going on for the evening.

Today something cracked in my foot as I was walking and the pain I've been feeling immediately felt better, randomly. But now it's back to about the usual level of pain it's been. It's still slowly getting better, but I don't know what that crack was, unless it was like my knees when my tendons and ligaments started cracking and snapping as it all healed. Maybe it's just the next step in the healing process.

I cleaned off some stuff on my desk, and did a few financial-related things, including updating my phone number online through somebody who is still able to work, maybe from home, or maybe from what is hopefully a socially-distanced-appropriate space at financial institution's headquarters. Either way, I hope he's safe, and I'm also glad he's still able to work. I also found out that the stimulus checks that are going to be coming out showed up in my account, pending for tomorrow. I don't plan to spend it, but I will keep it on hand for bills or rent should this go on too long. It won't last long, of course, but it might keep me going an extra month or so.

Today's letter in my Alphabet Movies series, was G. And I selected Goodfellas. It's a classic, from 1990, and yet I have never actually seen it before.
I often have problems with Mafia movies and tv shows because I think they portray Italian Americans as nothing more than criminals. It really is all we ever see them as in movies, and I think that's a shame. I think there's also a racism element in which we glorify the Mafia, but condemn gangs when really it's only the skin color of the people that makes any difference between them. Both groups of people had their starts in nearly the same way: Setting up a system of protection for themselves against a larger system that excluded them. The larger system was often corrupt, and not necessarily a paragon of virtue itself, so who was the "bigger baddie" when you really think about it? But, try as I might to maintain my social justice outrage, Martin Scorsese wove a tale I was unable to not be drawn into. The acting was phenomenal. The violence that was shown was surprisingly not as bad as I was anticipating. For such a notorious movie with the given subject matter, it could have been way worse. The narration was a surprising element. It was like The Wonder Years, but with the Mafia. And I had no idea until now that it had been based on a true story! This was a really great movie! We'll see what tomorrow brings.

STFAH: Day 22

Today I actually managed to get a lot of writing for my book done! My sister is home today and tomorrow to use up some vacation time, but I did pretty much the same things I do when she goes to work. I took out a load of recycling and garbage. I rinse and stacked the dishes and put away the clean dishes. I fed the sourdough starter and let it sit in the sun. It's still going pretty strong and I think I might be able to test it out finally in the next couple days. Read in bed for a while and elevated my foot. Then we had leftovers from Easter lunch for dinner too, except we had baked potatoes instead of au gratin. We bought a 5lb. bag of potatoes before we hunkered down and they were starting to to sprout so we baked the rest of them up to turn into fried potatoes for breakfast tomorrow. Tonight we have our tv shows which are actually new episodes! No dinner plans yet for tomorrow. We'll see what I come up with for a menu this week!

So, I did end up doing an Alphabet Movie today. My sister was ok with sitting through a totally random movie. Today's letter was F, and I chose a movie called The Florida Project, from 2017.
This was really well done and eye-opening into an often overlooked segment of society. This is an indie film about a "cheap" motel in Florida, on the outskirts of Disney World and the people who live there. Low income people, mostly women, and their children, living in the motel and trying their best to make their way in the world. And the fact that this abject poverty takes place in the shadow of a Disney park makes it all the more tragic. I highly recommend this one. It's not a fun movie, but it's a good movie. If you're a Willem Dafoe fan, you'll like him in this one.

STFAH: Day 21

Today is Easter! Normally I would have gone to my aunt's house and my parents and sister would be there, and if possible, my grandmother as well. Obviously that did not happen. So, my sister and I had our own Easter dinner and watched movies all day.

I was going to make homemade au gratin potatoes but I couldn't muster the energy and we ended up with boxed and it was just fine. We did ham and biscuits and I had asparagus and carrots sticks with Uncle Dan's dressing, and some olives. Sadly, my apple grape pie did not turn out well. The apples were completely raw and the apple pie spice I used smelled like curry which I hoped would just go away, yet it did not, so it was a raw apple curry pie and it's now in the compost.

We started the day with Jesus Christ, Superstar, always a great movie. Then, we continued with the other Norman Jewison musical we have on hand: Fiddler on the Roof. Since it's also Passover, I thought it was a good duo. Now, we're watching my favorite Easter movie: Dogma. We were going to try to watch the Easter episode of MASH and My Big Fat Greek Wedding too, but we are going to put it off till next Sunday, since both of them actually deal with Orthodox Easter, which is a week after ours. I might make something tasty with my Greek seasoning for it!

We also placed some orders for stuff. I found a couple things for new hobbies I want to try at Powell's and order them for delivery. One of the items I wanted to get I had no choice but to get from Amazon. And we ordered some stamps to support the USPS and I had the idea that we should all start writing and mailing letters in our isolation. It would give me a good chance to practice my handwriting!

Now, I'm waiting for my frozen potpie to cook and I still need to feed my sourdough starter. It looked like it was not working anymore after I started refrigerating it. I took it back out and last night instead of a flour/water slurry I actually just dumped straight flour in it and mixed it. I refrigerated it last night and then left it out all day. I put it in the sun again this afternoon and I definitely see bubbles and frothing again, so it's not dead. Tomorrow I might pour off half of it again and start the process again and maybe on Thursday I'll be able to try actually making something with it. Depending on how it turns out, I'll do a big food blog post for it all. Keeping my fingers crossed!

STFAH: Day 20

Pretty lazy day today. Slept in a bit, and watched movies for the most part. We finished out season 2 of Psych, and watched the first Avengers movie as we jump back into our MCU rewatch. I made an apple and grape pie, using my dad's apple pie recipe as the base, but tweaking it a bit. I haven't tried it yet so I have no idea if it's good or not.

My second Wayfair order came so now I have a cute and comfy mat to stand on at the kitchen sink. I picked that up after taking out a load of garbage, recycling, and compost downstairs.

I read for a bit while elevating my foot. The swelling has gone down a lot, but it still gets sore after standing on it for a while.

Now we're moving into our Easter tv/movie list. We started with the Easter episode of Vicar of Dibley, and now we're watching the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. How is that an Easter movie, you ask? Why, because of this line, of course: "Gooses, geeses, I want my goose to lay gold eggs for Easter!" We'll probably get through a good chunk of movies tomorrow as well.

Leftover Azteca for dinner tonight.

Friday, April 10, 2020

STFAH: Day 19

Well, today was quite the grand adventure! One of my Wayfair orders arrived so I took out a bag of recycling and then got the package downstairs. It was my bamboo bathroom accessory set. It's so cute! I didn't want to get a new one, but the one I bought, which was also so cute and was the impetus behind my Golden Girls-themed bathroom started to leach glaze into the soap so I got nervous about that happening with the drinking cup so I sadly had to toss the entire set. The bamboo set won't leach anything, and is a sustainable resource, so that's good.

We went out this afternoon to my parents' house to drop off some stuff, including the half of the sourdough starter I poured off the other day. We'll see if it works for them. We picked up a few things and then drove to the Grocery Outlet around the corner from our apartment. I was able to get pretty much all the fruits and veggies I needed for the next couple weeks. This was the first time I encountered a grouchy customer and an even grouchier cashier, but times are tough and while I think the customer needed to build a bridge and get over his issue, I take no issue with the cashier. She's working a life and death job at the moment and enduring incredible amounts of stress for probably minimum wage. I commend her for not walking off the job, tbh. Then we went home and unpacked and ordered out Azteca dinner which turned out to be freaking fantastic! We left a big tip, and will be back cuz it's been waaaaaaay too long since we've had Azteca. Years. And I have leftovers for dinner tomorrow. Woohoo!

Not much writing, just a few lines, but words on the page, no matter how many or how few, is a victory in these times. Today's movie was a huge success though!
The Edge of Seventeen, from 2016. I'd never heard of it before now and it was really good! I guess you could call it a comedy, but I'd call it more like a dramedy, along the lines of The Breakfast Club. Surprisingly deep at times. Even though Blake Jenner is in it, and he's cancelled, I didn't let him ruin a great movie experience. I highly recommend this one. My sister has Monday and Tuesday off work so I may not be able to do the Alphabet Movie series till Wednesday. We'll see.

It's Easter weekend, and my big plan for the weekend is movie-watching and cooking/baking. Ham and au gratin potatoes and I managed to snag some fresh asparagus at the store so I get to have that instead of canned green beans. If my sourdough starter is ready I might try to make biscuits with it. If not, we have refrigerator biscuits to use. And I'm making an apple pie with my dad's recipe. We'll see how it turns out, especially if I put the wilting grapes in it too to use them up...!

Thursday, April 9, 2020

STFAH: Day 18

Low-key, lazy day today. I didn't really achieve anything. I divided my sourdough starter up last night and refrigerated both parts, and today they had receded a bit, but I fed them and now the one in the jar at least is doing better. The other one is in a metal bowl because I don't have another jar. I'm going to try to give it to my parents so they can make stuff too, but we'll see if it survives. It doesn't seem as strong as the one in the jar, for some reason.

Only managed a couple paragraphs writing today, wasn't really feeling it. But I got something on paper, so that counts. I did write an email just now, though, to WA State Secretary Kim Wyman, who happens to be a Republican, but also happens to be the one who set up our vote-by-mail system and defended it against Donald Trump's fake fears about voting by mail. He just wants to discourage making voting easier because if that happened, more people would vote. But other people are concerned about things like how a vote will be counted, or how voting by mail will happen if the USPS collapses like people have been talking about lately. So, I emailed her to ask about it. I would like to think our state has a plan for how to continue voting by mail in a time when the USPS is no longer functioning. And I also wanted to know if our state is unique in the drop boxes we also use. If I knew those things, I could help explain to people better why voting by mail is nothing to be afraid of. We'll see if I get any response. It would be cool if I heard back though!

Did some walking outside to exercise my foot, but I might be doing too much too soon, according to my sister. My foot is still in quite a bit of pain and I limp, even with the shoes on. Maybe I'm not ready yet. But it was soooo warm and pretty out! I came back, took a shower, and rested my foot and read in bed with the window curtain open and the actual window open. This was the first time it was warm enough to do that. It was glorious!

Today's Alphabet Movies letter was D, and the movie I chose was The Dirty Dozen, from 1967. This is I think a pretty well-known movie. I thought it was the one where they dig their way out of a POW camp or something, but it was not. I was actually kind of disappointed in this one. I found it didn't really capture me, and it was kind of boring, except for the last 20 or so minutes. There wasn't much character growth or exploration, and for the premise of the movie, I felt the execution was really slow and plodding. I don't know if it's because it was sort of a drama and sort of a comedy and it should have been entirely one or the other, or what. I can't quite explain it, but I did not care for this one, sadly. We'll see what I can find for E tomorrow!

Leftovers from last night for dinner. We decided we'll call in an order from Azteca tomorrow!!

STFAH: Day 17

Today I made some really amazing progress with the sourdough starter. It was finally starting to bubble and there was liquid on the top, which I have since learned is referred to as "hooch". I used a wooden skewer to stir it back in, but apparently you can also pour it off if you want. I found some better heat sources today and have been keeping it by the warmth as much as possible. And I finally fed it a slurry of 2 Tbsp. flour and 2 Tbsp. water. I can definitely smell something more than just paste, but it's not overly yeasty like a traditional bread made with dried yeast. That might still develop, but with natural yeast, it'll be very unique. I'm going to give some of the extra starter once I get enough, to my parents so they can have fun with sourdough products too!

I talked with my dad on the phone for a bit today. During that time, I saw a squirrel in the tree outside our window chowing down on the leaf buds like he was going to starve to death. It was cute.

I only did a little writing, and I reread a bit of my first chapter and did some editing, but I felt a little scattered and couldn't concentrate too much.

I had a bit of a breakthrough in the sprained foot department too. I was finally able to put my shoe on without excruciating pain! I also ventured out of the apartment building and walked around the dead end, very slowly, to exercise my foot. The left side of my ankle is really weak after 2.5 weeks of walking on the right side of my foot. I have a bit of work to do to get back up to snuff. When I came back to the apartment, I borrowed one of my sister's ace bandages and wrapped up the fat part of my foot that's been stubbornly retaining water and not releasing it, no matter how much I elevated it. Ace bandage plus elevation definitely did the trick because my foot is way less swollen tonight. I'm going to keep all of this up and hopefully I'll be back to normal in the next couple weeks!

Today's letter was C for my Alphabet Movies series. I selected a movie called Cookie's Fortune, from 1999, that had an amazing cast but somehow I'd managed to never even hear of!
It's a dark comedy with quite a few twists and turns. And coincidentally, it takes place at Easter! So, I timed it pretty well! It's definitely not a happy fun Easter movie, so don't watch it expecting it to be about bunnies and eggs, or you will be disappointed!

Tonight's dinner will be Jamaican Jerk-seasoned chicken that I mixed with an oil-lime juice based to which I added a couple teaspoons of sorghum syrup. I was afraid it would be too spicy and wanted something sweet to cut it a little. Rice and green beans will accompany.

Not a terribly productive day, but a good day, and that's all that matters.

Tuesday, April 7, 2020

STFAH: Day 16

So, my foot has been so swollen lately I tried a pair of my sister's compression stockings that she got after leg surgery a few year ago. I tried last night but my foot was too swollen to get the sock on. This morning I was able to get it on. It's still swollen but I was able to move my foot and toe with less pain than even yesterday, so I guess it was worth looking like a little old lady!

Today I was sort of headachy, I should have taken a sudafed, but I didn't. I hate spring time sinus pressure! I felt less "up and at 'em" than yesterday, but still got up at my normal time, ate breakfast, and managed to write quite a bit more than I thought I'd be able to manage. I also tried to figure out how and where to hang our pictures, unsuccessfully, but did hang my Disney calendar in my room. I did a load of dishes by hand, took out the garbage, got the mail, and cleaned my bathroom before reading and elevating my legs for a while. No exercises today, but I did find a youtube video to try out soon.

The highlight of the day was probably my Alphabet Movie. Today's letter was B, and I was actually surprised at how difficult it was to find a movie that starts with B! Or that was at least available on Netflix. Anyway, I ended up with this fine piece of cinema:
Baahubali, from 2015, subtitled, from India. I knew absolutely nothing about this going into it. This movie was epic! It has everything! Kickass women, brawny, Thor-like main characters, a Lord of the Rings battle sequence complete with a racially-questionable set of baddies that made you vaguely unsure if it was blatantly racist or not(I think it sort of was...), and just the right amount of dance and music sequences you'd want to be in a Thor meets Lord of the Rings mash-up. This is the first half of the story, and it really does end right in the middle of the story! I have to see if I can track down part two cuz I gotta see how this one ends!

Leftover Greek Chicken Grain Salad for dinner with peanut butter cookies AND yellow cake for dessert. I'm eating two desserts. No apologies!

Monday, April 6, 2020

STFAH: Day 15

So, today my sister returned to work so I forced myself to keep a bit of a schedule again and it made a huge difference! I ate breakfast at breakfast time and worked on my writing successfully for over an hour! I made my sourdough starter and will share pictures if it starts to work. I started my Alphabet Movies, which was really fun to just pick a movie at random and have a couple hours enjoying something I've never seen before. I ate lunch during the movie and got the sink ready to run a load of dishes. Then I got the recycling under control, picked up the mail, and set up our new garbage, compost, and recycling buckets for use, and swept the kitchen. I also looked up and found a really easy 5ish minute arm workout using my 2lb. weights that worked out really well. I might start doing that every other day. Especially since I can't walk right now, I need to so something for exercise. It really helps me sleep better and feel more energized. I'm going to look up other workouts I can do.

One of my newer favorite meals as I started exploring healthier meals, was my grain-based salad. Farro, generally, is my favorite base. I decided I had all the ingredients and could try out my new Greek seasoning blend. I prepped enough veggies for today and tomorrow, made homemade tzatziki sauce, and marinated a diced up chicken breast. The seasoning is amazing! I'm so excited I got it. I'm going to have lots of delicious meals in the future!

After dinner prep, I showered and read in bed for about an hour while elevating my super swollen feet! I really need this sprained foot to heal!

Today's letter was A, and via Netflix, I selected the 1995 version of A Little Princess, which had I somehow never seen. I've seen other versions, just not this one. It's not too bad, waaaaay 90's! I had no idea Alfonso Cuaron directed it, but he always seems to do female-centric stories, so it makes a lot of sense. I knew I recognized the woman who played Miss Minchin, and it turns out it's the woman who played Patsy's mom from Ab Fab. My biggest issue with the film was the change in setting. I don't see why this needed to be set in NYC, in fact, based on the premise, it doesn't make any sense at all. But it was still a fun movie to watch and I enjoyed it! We'll see what I end up with tomorrow!

Sunday, April 5, 2020

STFAH: Day 14

Well, it's officially two weeks since I started self-quarantining. It was technically a bit sooner, but the move doesn't entirely count since there were others involved, and I went in to work one day to pick up stuff to bring back home for the duration. We've ventured to stores twice in this time, and I did attempt to exercise outside, but my sprained foot made quick work of destroying that plan. It's still not walkable, but definitely better than it was. My sister goes back to work starting tomorrow, full time, so I will get back into a routine that will include picking up the mail and taking out garbage/recycling to give me a bit of a chance to exercise my foot.

Today was suuuper lazy and included a nap. We finished out season 1 of Psych. I made a cake from a mix. Yellow. Delish. Did a load of laundry. Placed an order for a mat for my kitchen for when I do the dishes, and a bamboo bathroom accessories set from Wayfair. Free shipping and a 10% coupon, so that was a pretty good deal! Leftover pizza for dinner, and now we're watching Toy Story 4 on Disney+. A lazy, relaxing Sunday, just like Sundays are supposed to be!

Saturday, April 4, 2020

STFAH: Day 13

Apparently Lowe's is considered essential so we were able to go and get a few more things for the new apartment. Little by little, it's getting set up. We were gonna pick up some doughnuts from the drive thru at Krispy Kreme but they only do online order pickups currently. Take note of that for any future doughnut needs. Order online first! We also did Taco Time for lunch. Take note as well, that drive thrus take more time now because it's the only way people can go to restaurants now. Be prepared for a wait.

We started Psych today. One of my all-time favorite comedies, so it should be a good time to watch it. We also watched some Hillywood parodies on You Tube which we can get through our blu-ray and watch on the big screen. They are hilarious, but the best ones imo, were the Supernatural and Stranger Things videos. Also lots of behind the scenes stuff, so if you're a fandom person, give them a try!

Frozen pizza in the oven, and watching Onward on Disney+ now. Later on tonight I'll continue reading the first Baby-Sitter's Club book. I started last night cuz I needed something super light and fun, so why not reread them? I want to write up a bit of a report after finishing to see how it reads as an adult as opposed to when I was a tween reading them originally. Fun times, fun times!

Friday, April 3, 2020

STFAH: Day 12

Kind of a lazy day for me, even by these new standards. Mostly just lounged in front of the tv. I uploaded Kanopy and Hoopla, two movie/tv streaming services from the Seattle Public Library to our Roku and uploaded a murder mystery with Aidan Turner we'd seen before and wanted to watch again. It was fun to use those new devices!

The big excitement for me was my Spice Market order arriving. I can't wait to try these out and I will give reports!

I love Greek flavors, so I bought extra of that one. I might try it on pork chops and potatoes next week...

I emptied out a pickle jar with a lid and am going to work on soaking off the labels this weekend so I can use it for my sourdough starter. No, the sour won't be from pickle juice! It'll be very well washed before I use it!

Almost finished with the last of Supernatural currently available on Netflix. We decided to go with something funny next, so after reading about USA's Psych marathon starting soon, we decided we need to do a full Psych rewatch. There is no better show to get you through tough times than Psych!

My foot is still slowly getting better but for some reason my knee is starting to hurt a little bit again too for no reason that I can discern. Maybe my doctor was right. When all this is over, maybe I need to look into some physical therapy to work with my knees and feet, cuz this is getting ridiculous!

Leftover Swedish meatloaf tonight. So tasty...

Thursday, April 2, 2020

STFAH: Day 11

Today I woke up at the crack of almost 11am...I was wiped out from yesterday's outing with my foot still not being up to snuff. Luckily it wasn't too sore today, though. I did some rearranging of furniture and set up our decontamination station by the door. Took out a set of garbage and recycling. Made my usual giant batch of Swedish meatloaf for me to freeze all the leftovers. Now it's starting to feel like "home".

Last night we had a stinkbug take up residence on our window in the living room. She was still there this morning so I named her Sally. She moved around all day and was so cute to watch, but I think she's gone now and I feel a little bereft. She was so cute to watch! Maybe she'll return...

Lots of Supernatural, well into season 14, and the last season currently available on Netflix. We decided to do a Twin Peaks rewatch next since it's shorter, and then it's time for a Charmed rewatch. Good times!

I got an email that my Spice Market order shipped today so it'll probably show up Monday or Tuesday. I'll take pictures and share them when it arrives.

I've decided to jump onboard the sourdough bread bandwagon since baking is all the rage these days and there's no yeast to be found anywhere. I have 1.5 packets left, but with sourdough you use the natural yeasts in the air. Should be fun and I'll definitely document it and share it through my food blog. The internet is a great resource, but I found a section on sourdough starter in my Little House on the Prairie cookbook, a book dealing with all the recipes mentioned in the books. I've always said that if I was in the middle of the wilderness trying to survive, all I'd need is the Little House books to get me through. And it turns out I was right!! I'll probably start that next week since it takes several days to start.

Swedish meatloaf, asparagus, toast, and baked potato for dinner tonight.

STFAH: Day 10

Today was movie day. We had gotten It: Chapter 2 from the library before we moved and they all closed, so it moved with us and will be with us for some time to come. We finally watched the movie and all the specials. I just don't find this newer version to be terrifying, but it is poignant. I grew up with the miniseries from 1990 and to me that was much scarier, but less poignant. I think they both have their merits!

Being the first of the month, I tried out the new online rent payment system that our new place uses. Rather than use a debit or credit card, that both charge a fee, I used an ACH payment from my checking account. It seems to work just fine!

Our original plan was to make and eat our meals this week and then do grocery shopping and take out on Friday. The meatloaf ingredients were still too frozen, however, to work with them, so we swapped things around and did shopping and Red Robin take out tonight. I picked up the new Star Wars while I was at Fred Meyer, as well as our Easter ham! We hope to not have to go to another store in person for a full two weeks now. And Red Robin, at least at Northgate, has a great set up for take out now. They have a side room that they opened the wall to so customers don't even enter the restaurant to get their food, and the interaction with the server, while less than 6 feet apart, is in an open air area, so it just feels safer than having to go inside and wait for food to go. I was very impressed and would definitely do that again. Especially now that they have these little mini doughnuts that are really delish. I highly recommend!

The new ritual instituted today after getting back with bags of groceries and dinner, was the disinfectant stage. Bleach wiped every single item, unless the item could be opened up and the contents removed and the package discarded. Then I laundered all my clothes and showered. Good times!

Then I got the sink under control and ran a load of dishes. We're doing a lot more loads of dishes because we're both home and making and eating all our meals here. Now we've got Pinocchio on Disney Plus, and resting my foot which is pretty stiff and sore and worn out from walking so much today. Not as bad as I thought it would be though, so that's good.

BLTA croissant sandwich and cup of clam chowder plus a couple of Erin's onion rings and fries, and the doughnuts for dinner tonight, btw.
